Pinocchio is a 2019 fantasy film, co-written, directed, and co-produced by Matteo Garrone, based on the 1883 book The Adventures of Pinocchio by Italian author Carlo Collodi. The film stars child actor Federico Ielapi as the title character, Roberto Benigni as Geppetto, Gigi Proietti as Mangiafuoco, Rocco Papaleo and Massimo Ceccherini as the Cat and the Fox, and Marine Vacth as the adult Fairy with Turquoise Hair. This was the final film featuring Proietti to be released before his death in November 2020.

The Mayor of Rione Sanità is a 2019 Italian crime drama film directed by Mario Martone, based on the 1960 play of the same name by Eduardo De Filippo. The film is intended as a modern take on the play, inspired by the theatrical adaptation directed by Martone in 2018, with several members of the cast returning. It was selected to compete for the Golden Lion at the 76th Venice International Film Festival.

La chimera is a 2023 period comedy-drama film written and directed by Alice Rohrwacher. The film stars Josh O'Connor as a British looter who gets involved in an international network of stolen Etruscan artifacts during the 1980s. Carol Duarte, Vincenzo Nemolato, Alba Rohrwacher and Isabella Rossellini appear in supporting roles.

<i>The Hanging Sun</i> 2022 film

The Hanging Sun is a 2022 Italian-British noir thriller film directed by Francesco Carrozzini. It is an adaptation of the 2015 novel Midnight Sun by Jo Nesbø.

The 66th David di Donatello ceremony, presented by the Accademia del Cinema Italiano, honored the best in Italian cinema released from 1 January 2020 to 28 February 2021. The ceremony was hosted by presenter Carlo Conti and was held in two venues, Teatro dell'Opera di Roma and Fabrizio Frizzi Television Studios, both in Rome.

The 65th David di Donatello ceremony, presented by the Accademia del Cinema Italiano, honoured the best Italian films of 2019. The ceremony was hosted by presenter Carlo Conti on 8 May 2020. The awards ceremony was initially set for 3 April 2020 but was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Also, the ceremony was held live at RAI Studios and broadcast by Rai 1 while the candidates were connected via video and answered the questions asked by the Carlo Conti from the studio.
