Georges-Henri Denys Arcand is a French Canadian film director, screenwriter and producer. His film The Barbarian Invasions won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Film in 2004. His films have also been nominated three further times, including two nominations in the same category for The Decline of the American Empire in 1986 and Jesus of Montreal in 1989, becoming the only French-Canadian director in history whose films have received this number of nominations and, subsequently, to have a film win the award. For The Barbarian Invasions, he received an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Screenplay, losing to Sofia Coppola for Lost in Translation.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Jean-Carl Boucher</span> Canadian actor

Jean-Carl Boucher is a Canadian actor and filmmaker from Quebec, best known for his recurring performances as a fictionalized version of filmmaker Ricardo Trogi in Trogi's semi-autobiographical series of comedy-drama films. To date he has played Trogi in the films 1981, 1987 and 1991, with 1995 forthcoming in 2024.

Manon Briand is a Canadian film director and screenwriter. After graduating in film studies from Concordia University, Briand went to France to study screenwriting in 1987. Returning home, she co-founded an independent filmmakers’ group, Les Films de l’Autre, and soon began directing. Her films include Letters of Transit , a segment in Cosmos, 2 Seconds, Chaos and Desire, Liverpool and the television film Heart: The Marilyn Bell Story.

Chloé Leriche is a Canadian film director from Montreal, Quebec. Her debut feature film, Before the Streets , received six Canadian Screen Award nominations at the 5th Canadian Screen Awards in 2017, including Best Picture and a nod for Leriche as Best Director.

Wilcox is a Canadian drama film, directed by Denis Côté and released in 2019. Told entirely without dialogue, the film tells the story of Wilcox, a mysterious drifter travelling in an apparent search for adventure. Although he does interact with other characters in the film, the dialogue taking place in the story is not heard by the audience.

Rafaël Ouellet is a Canadian screenwriter and film director from Dégelis, Quebec. He is most noted for his 2012 film Camion, for which he received Jutra Award nominations for Best Director, Best Screenplay and Best Editing at the 15th Jutra Awards in 2013.

<i>North of Albany</i> 2022 Canadian film by Marianne Farley

North of Albany is a 2022 Canadian drama film directed by Marianne Farley from a screenplay she co-wrote with Claude Brie. It stars Céline Bonnier, Zeneb Blanchet, and Eliott Plamondon as a Canadian family who run away to the United States. The film was shot in the province of Quebec in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic in late 2020. The film premiered at Cinéfest on September 19, 2022, and was released in theaters on December 2, 2022, by Maison 4:3.

<i>Solo</i> (2023 film) 2023 Canadian drama film

Solo is a 2023 Canadian romantic drama film, written and directed by Sophie Dupuis. The film stars Théodore Pellerin as Simon, a young emerging drag queen in Montreal who is drawn into a passionate but complicated romance with Olivier, while simultaneously navigating a reunion with his estranged mother Claire, whom he has not seen since she left Canada 15 years earlier to pursue her career as an opera singer.

<i>Seagrass</i> (film) 2023 Canadian drama film

Seagrass is a 2023 Canadian drama film, written and directed by Meredith Hama-Brown. Hama-Brown's full-length feature debut, the film stars Ally Maki as Judith, a woman who is at a family retreat with her husband Steve and their children following the death of her mother, where she and Steve are coping with tensions in their marriage arising from their status as an interracial couple.

Ru is a Canadian drama film, directed by Charles-Olivier Michaud and released in 2023. An adaptation of Kim Thúy's award-winning 2009 novel Ru, the film centres on the coming-of-age of Tinh, a young girl from Vietnam who is adapting to Quebec culture and society after her family move to Granby as refugees from the Vietnam War.

Chloé Cinq-Mars is a Canadian film director and screenwriter from Quebec, most noted as writer of the 2018 film The Far Shore (Dérive).

Atikamekw Suns is a 2023 Canadian drama film, written, produced, and directed by Chloé Leriche. The film centres on the true story of five youths from the Atikamekw First Nation community of Manawan who were found dead in a truck in the nearby river in 1977, with police investigation remaining inconclusive to this day about whether the truck driving into the river was a simple accident or a racially-motivated attack.

Tell Me Why These Things Are So Beautiful is a Canadian drama film, directed by Lyne Charlebois and released in 2023.

Kim Albright is a Canadian film director based in Vancouver, British Columbia, whose debut feature film With Love and a Major Organ was released in 2023.
