Initially announced for a December 11th release, The Count of Monte Cristo , the most expensive French film of the year, was brought forward a little over five months to June 28th in late January. It was noted that the film would thus be able take advantage of the Fête du cinéma promotional event beginning two days later, but would also be competing for attention with the UEFA Euro 2024 tournament happening at the same time. [60]
