Founded in June 2011, THQ Nordic is an Austrian video game publisher based in Vienna that acts as the primary publishing arm of Swedish holding company Embracer Group. THQ Nordic GmbH, originally Nordic Games GmbH, changed its name to THQ Nordic in 2016 to better reflect its games portfolio. The company publishes original games, ports and remasters of older intellectual property it has acquired, and licensed games based on third-party properties.

The story follows the efforts of player character Death to clear the name of his brother, War, who stands accused of wiping out humanity. Based on the Nickelodeon animated series SpongeBob SquarePants, it is a remake of the console versions of Heavy Iron Studios' SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom (2003). Darksiders Genesis is a top-down hack and slash action role-playing video game developed by American studio Airship Syndicate and published by THQ Nordic. The game was released for Stadia and Windows on 5 December 2019, and was released on the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on 14 February 2020. It is considered a spin-off prequel game in the Darksiders series and introduces the fourth Horseman of the Apocalypse, Strife, as the protagonist. Strife can also team up with his brother, War. Upon release, the game received positive reviews, with many reviewers praising the combat.

The player controls SpongeBob, who, along with Patrick, journeys across several alternate realities called "Wish Worlds" to save their friends and the town of Bikini Bottom while collecting Cosmic Jelly for the mermaid fortune teller Madame Kassandra. It was released for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Windows, and Xbox One on January 31, 2023. It was also released for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on October 24, 2023, iOS on December 12, 2023 and Android on December 21, 2023.
