The Long Beach Shoreline Marina is a marina based in Long Beach, California.
The marina was built in 1983 to host the competitions in Sailing at the 1984 Summer Olympics. The marina used the five gangways of this shoreline. The 1984 Summer Olympics were based in neighboring Los Angeles.
It is located near the Long Beach Convention and Entertainment Center, which hosted the competitions in Fencing at the 1984 Summer Olympics and Volleyball at the 1984 Summer Olympics.
Beneath the flagpole at Shoreline Park are the names of 74 Navy sailors who boarded the USS Frank E. Evans in Long Beach and perished in the Melbourne–Evans collision. [1]
The 1984 Summer Olympics were an international multi-sport event held from July 28 to August 12, 1984, in Los Angeles, California, United States. It marked the second time that Los Angeles had hosted the Games, the first being in 1932. California was the home state of the incumbent U.S. President Ronald Reagan, who officially opened the Games. These were the first Summer Olympic Games under the IOC presidency of Juan Antonio Samaranch.

Sailing/Yachting is an Olympic sport starting from the Games of the 1st Olympiad. With the exception of 1904 and possibly the canceled 1916 Summer Olympics, sailing has always been included on the Olympic schedule. sailing was always a part of the Olympic program. The Sailing program of 1984 consisted of a total of seven sailing classes (disciplines). For each class seven races were scheduled from 31 July 1984 to 8 August 1984 of the coast of Long Beach, Los Angeles County, California at the Pacific Ocean. Los Angeles hosted the Olympic sailing competitions for the second time, having previously done so during the 1932 Summer Olympics. The sailing was done on the triangular type Olympic courses.
The Long Beach Convention and Entertainment Center is a convention center located in Long Beach, California. Built on the former site of the Long Beach Municipal Auditorium, the venue is composed of the Long Beach Convention Center, Long Beach Arena, and the Long Beach Performing Arts Center. It is served by the 1st Street station of Los Angeles Metro Rail.
Fisherman's Village is a waterfront mall, commercial boat anchorage, and tourist attraction located in the world's largest man-made small boat harbor in Los Angeles County at Marina del Rey, California. The Ballona Wetlands State Ecological Reserve is just east of Fisherman's Village and immediately to the south is the federally-owned riverine estuary of Ballona Creek. The historical Fisherman's Village that was built in 1967 is nestled on the eastern bank of main harbor entrance channel between Whiskey Reds restaurant to the south and the Windward boatyard to the north.
The Qingdao International Sailing Centre is a sailing marina located on the former site of the Beihai Shipyard by Qingdao's Fushan Bay at Shandong Province in China. It was constructed for the 2008 Summer Olympics. It hosted the Olympic and Paralympic Sailing competitions. Wind conditions vary greatly from very light winds to +15 knots. During the Olympic competitions, fog was also an occasional factor.
Barnegat Inlet is a small inlet connecting the Barnegat Bay with the Atlantic Ocean in Ocean County, New Jersey. It separates Island Beach State Park and the Barnegat Peninsula from Long Beach Island. The Barnegat Lighthouse sits at the northern end of Long Beach Island along the inlet.
The Los Angeles 2016 Olympic bid is a reference to the unsuccessful attempt by the city of Los Angeles, with help from the Greater Los Angeles area, to be chosen by the United States Olympic Committee as the official United States bid for the International Olympic Committee 2016 Summer Olympics host city competition. On July 26, 2006, the USOC had narrowed its list of candidates to Chicago, Los Angeles and San Francisco. San Francisco later withdrew its bid on November 13, 2006. On April 14, 2007, Chicago was selected as the United States bid. Two years later, Chicago lost their bid to Rio de Janeiro when the IOC voted to select the host city.

The Long Beach Marine Stadium is a marine venue located in Long Beach, California. Created in 1932 to host the rowing events for the 1932 Summer Olympics in neighboring Los Angeles, the stadium was the first manmade rowing course in the United States.
Eagle's Nest Arena is an indoor arena located on the California State University, Los Angeles campus. It plays host to the basketball and volleyball teams for the Golden Eagles, is 94 feet (29 m) long by 80 feet (24 m) wide, and can handle two basketball and three volleyball courts.
The William Woollett Jr. Aquatics Center is an aquatics venue located in Irvine, California, United States. The City of Irvine operates year-round municipal programs in aquatic facility. The center provides a venue for local, regional and national competitive events and features two 50 meter pools and a 25-yard instruction pool. Aquatics activities include a combination of instructional, educational, recreational and competitive programs offered by the City and a number of local nonprofit aquatic organizations. During the 1984 Summer Olympics, it hosted the swimming portion of the modern pentathlon event. It has since hosted the 2010 Pan Pacific Swimming Championships, the United States Swimming National Championships in 2005, 2006, 2010, 2014, and 2018, and the 2015 USA Water Polo National Junior Olympics. The facility, originally named the Heritage Park Aquatics Center, was renamed after the City of Irvine's first City Manager and rebuilt beginning in 2003.
Abalone Cove State Marine Conservation Area (SMCA) and Point Vicente State Marine Reserve (SMR) are two adjoining marine protected areas that extend offshore in Los Angeles County on California's south coast. The two marine protected areas cover 19.87 sq mi (51.5 km2). The marine protected areas protect natural habitats and marine life by protecting or limiting removal of wildlife from within their boundaries. Point Vicente SMR, prohibits all take of living marine resources. Abalone Cove SMCA, prohibits take of all living marine resources, except recreational take of pelagic finfish, including Pacific bonito and white seabass by spearfishing, market squid by hand-held dip net, commercial take of coastal pelagic species and Pacific bonito by round haul net, and swordfish by harpoon.

It is in southeastern Long Beach, California between Second Street and the Los Cerritos Channel. The shopping center has variously been named Marina Pacifica Mall and Marina Pacifica Shopping Center.
Long Beach Towne Center is a large power center in northeastern Long Beach, California at Carson St. and the I-605, with 1,000,000 square feet (93,000 m2) of retail space on a 100-acre (40 ha) site. It is the largest shopping center in Long Beach.
Lions Lighthouse is a decorative lighthouse located in Shoreline Marina, Long Beach, California. It was funded by the Downtown Long Beach Lions Clubs International to advertise their services to blind people and was first lit in 2000. Its focal height is 65.62 ft. The RMS Queen Mary is visible from the light's location at ShoreLine Aquatic Park. The Aquarium of the Pacific is nearby. The nearest harbor is Rainbow Harbor. The light is popular for scenic viewing.
