Niren De was an Indian Lawyer and was the Attorney General for India from November 1968 to March 1977 and it covered Indian Emergency. [3] He was earlier the Solicitor General of India. [4] [5] [6] He was awarded the Padma Vibhushan in 1974. He was also the Chairman of the Bar council of India. [7]
As the Attorney General for India during Emergency,when questioned by the Supreme Court of India about the remedies available if an innocent man was to be shot dead by the Police,he is reported to have said,“Your Lordships,as long as there is Emergency,there is no remedy…that is the law…” [8] [9]

The Attorney General for India is the chief legal advisor of the Government of India. Fali Sam Nariman was an Indian jurist. He was a senior advocate to the Supreme Court of India from 1971 and was the President of the Bar Association of India from 1991 to 2010. Nariman was an internationally recognised jurist on international arbitration. He was honoured with the 19th Lal Bahadur Shastri National Award for Excellence in Public Administration 2018. He was one of India's most distinguished constitutional lawyers and argued several leading cases. He was the Additional Solicitor General of India from May 1972 to June 1975.

Chander Kishan Daphtary was an Indian lawyer and was the first Solicitor General of India from 1950 to 1963. He was the Attorney General for India from 1963 to 1968. He was the President of the Bar Association of India. He was nominated to the Rajya Sabha the Upper House of Indian Parliament from 1972 to 1978. He was awarded the Padma Vibhushan in 1967.
