Olivier Burri (born 4 September 1963 in Hazebrouck, France) is a rally driver who has competed in the World Rally Championship on various occasions since 1991, almost exclusively at the Monte Carlo Rally.

Biography

Career in Rally

Burri's professional rallying début was at the 1991 Monte Carlo Rally driving a Ford Sierra RS Cosworth. 1991 also saw his début in the European Rally Championship which he has had modest success in. He has entered in eighteen ERC rounds, winning six of them. He has also competed in the Rallye International du Valais, a Swiss-based rally that is also a part of the ERC, which he has won numerous times. During the Monte Carlo Rally's time as part of the Intercontinental Rally Challenge, it has not stopped Burri from competing regularly at the infamous rally, finishing seventh overall in 2009.

The Monte Carlo Rally or Rallye Monte-Carlo is a rallying event organized each year by the Automobile Club de Monaco. From its inception in 1911 by Prince Albert I, the rally was intended to demonstrate improvements and innovations in automobiles, and promote Monaco as a tourist resort on the Mediterranean shore. Before the format changed in 1997, the event was a “concentration rally” in which competitors would set off from various starting points around Europe and drive to Monaco, where the rally would continue to a set of special stages. Grönholm is one of the most successful WRC drivers of all time, ranking third in rally wins (30), and winning two championships, in 2000 and 2002. After Peugeot withdrew from the World Rally Championship, Grönholm moved to Ford for the 2006 season and placed second in the drivers' world championship, losing out to Sébastien Loeb by one point. The next year he again placed second, four points behind Loeb. The 2014 FIA World Rally Championship-2 was the second season of the World Rally Championship-2, an auto racing championship recognized by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile, running in support of the World Rally Championship. It was created when the Group R class of rally car was introduced in 2013.The Championship was open to cars complying with R4, R5, Super 2000 and Group N regulations. The Championship is composed by thirteen Rallies, and Drivers and Teams must nominate a maximum of seven event. The best six results were counted towards the championship.

The Power Stage is a special stage that usually runs as the final stage of a rally in the World Rally Championship (WRC) and European Rally Championship (ERC).
