Palakkad North is a region in Palakkad city consisting of the northern suburbs of the city. These areas can be treated as both commercial and residential areas of the city. [1] [2] [3] Many of the institutions of the city forms part of Palakkad North. [4] There is a North Police Station located on Market Road, Vadakkanthara. The Palakkad North Police Station was formed and opened in the year 1913. [5]

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Southern Railway zone</span> Railway zone of Indian Railways

The Southern Railway, headquartered at Chennai, is one of the 19 zones of Indian Railways. It is the earliest of the 19 zones of the Indian Railways created in independent India. It was created on 14 April 1951 by merging three state railways, namely, the Madras and Southern Mahratta Railway, the South Indian Railway Company, and the Mysore State Railway. The South Indian Railway was originally created in the British colonial times as Great Southern of India Railway Co founded in Britain in 1853 and registered in 1859. Its original headquarters was in Tiruchirappalli (Trichy) and was registered as a company in London only in 1890. At present, after re-organization of existing railway zones and creation of new zones undertaken by the Indian Railways between 2002 and 2003, Southern Railway has emerged as the 4th largest zone after undertaking some gauge conversion projects and creation of new lines. The trains operated by the southern railway are rated the cleanest as well as cleanly maintained trains of the Indian Railways.

Calicut International Airport, also known as Kozhikode International Airport or Karipur Airport, is an international airport serving the city of Kozhikode, Kerala, India. It is located at Karipur in the Malappuram district of the South Malabar region. It serves the Malabar region, consisting of Malappuram, Wayanad and Palakkad. It is situated 28 km (17 mi) away from Kozhikode and 25 km (16 mi) away from Malappuram. It serves two of the seven metropolitan areas in the state—Kozhikode metropolitan area and Malappuram metropolitan area. The airport opened on 13 April 1988. The airport serves as an operating base for Air India Express and operates Hajj Pilgrimage services to Medina and Jeddah from Kerala. It is the twenty first–busiest airport in India in terms of overall passenger traffic and also the sixth-busiest airport in India after Delhi, Mumbai, Kochi, Chennai and Hyderabad in terms of international traffic. It received international airport status on 2 February 2006. It is one of a few airports in the country with a tabletop runway.

Palakkad, formerly known as Palghat, historically known as Palakkattussery is a city and municipality in the Indian state of Kerala. It is the administrative headquarters of the Palakkad District. Palakkad is most densely populated municipality and fourth densely populated city in Kerala. It was established before Indian independence under British rule and was known by the name Palghat. Palakkad is famous for the ancient Palakkad Fort, which is situated at the heart of the city and was captured and rebuilt by Hyder Ali in 1766. Kallekulangara is an area in Palakkad city, Kerala, India. Kallekulangara is famous for Sree Emoor Bhagavathy temple which is believed to be consecrated by Parashurama and Hemambika Devi is the deity,due to this Kallekulangara is also known by Hemambika Nagar. Head office of Palakkad railway division of Southern Railway zone and a residential colony of the railway employees under Southern Railway known as Hemambika Nagar railway colony is located here.

Kalpathy or Kalpathi is a residential area in Palakkad city, Kerala, India. It is famous for the Viswanatha Swamy Temple, which is located along the banks of the Kalpathy river, one of the tributaries of the Bharathapuzha. Kalpathy is also famous for its agraharam, or traditional village. It is the first heritage village in Kerala. There are around 4 agraharams of Brahmins who migrated from Tamil Nadu so many years ago to Kalpathy. Many temples, other than the Viswanatha Swamy Temple, are also present here. The annual festival Kalpathi Ratholsavam is held here, with chariots as the main attraction. Kalpathy and it's neighbourhoods have witnessed large settlements of people in colonies and apartments, making it one of the major residential areas of the city.

Palakkad South is a region in Palakkad city consisting of the southern suburbs of the city. Kanjikode Industrial Area, the second largest industrial area in Kerala after Kochi forms part of Palakkad South. Indian Institute of Technology, Palakkad, first and the only Indian Institute of Technology in Kerala also forms part. South police station is located at Kunnathurmedu.

Muttikulangara is a suburb of Palakkad city, Kerala, India. It is located about 9 km from the city centre along National Highway 966. Muttikulangara is famous for its ayurvedic oil, which is used to get relief from cuts, wounds, sprains, and fractures. The Kerala Armed Police Second Battalion was founded in Muttikulangara in 1974.
