TechAir is an airline based in Israel that will offer flights between Israel and New York, in the United States [1] It was announced by the High-Tech protest organization in 2024, as a solution to the lack of international flights to and from Israel following the October 7 Hamas-led attack on Israel, and subsequent Gaza war and conflicts between Israel and Hezbollah and Iran. [1] The company expects to run three flights per week between January and March 2025. [2]
Rather than acting as a standard for-profit airline, the company is set up as a co-operative. It has committed to returning operational profits to advance ticket purchasers. [3]
TechAir is seeking an exemption to Israel's Air Passenger Protection Law, known as the "Tibi Law", which would require it to compensate passengers for delays. [4] Other small Israeli airlines Arkia and Israir have also requested similar exemptions. [5]
Techair was led by Eynat Guez, CEO of Papaya Global, and other founders and team members from the tech group. this led to the opening of NY line with Arkia during February 2025. [6]
