Highway 73 is a highway in the Jezreel Valley in northern Israel. It proceeds from the Nahalal junction in the west toward the Adashim junction in the east. It is 12 km long.
With the establishment of Gvat and Sarid and settlement in the area of the Sharon Group and the Ayanot Group (which later established Ramat David) in 1926, representatives of the localities began to demand that the government pave the road that would connect the new localities to Afula-Nazareth Road and Haifa-Nazareth Road. [1] The first section of the road, which connected Route 60 with Ginegar, was paved in 1930. [2]
Before it was paved, passengers used the road's route from Jerusalem and Tel Aviv to Haifa to bypass Nazareth. Towards the end of 1934, an agreement was reached between the government and the surrounding localities on the construction of the road between Ginegar and Nahalal, [3] but in July 1935 the governor of the Nazareth district announced that the construction would be delayed for budgetary reasons. Haim Gvati hypothesized that the lack of paving of the road stems from the desire to prevent the diversion of traffic to Haifa from passing through Nazareth in a way that could harm trade in the city. [4] Preliminary work to pave the road began in early 1936. [5] With the outbreak of the Arab Revolt, pressure increased from the Jewish community to pave the road due to attacks on vehicles of Jews passing through Nazareth. [6] In August 1936 the High Commissioner issued an official statement that the road was defined as a public project for land expropriation. [7] The work was handed over to Solel Boneh [8] and the paving of the road began in September 1936. [9] The settlers in the surrounding localities participated in paving the road, for which they purchased a truck, which later became known thanks to the children's song "Our big green car" (version of Vi gå över daggstänkta berg). [10]
In November 1936, the work was stopped due to the rains, and it was renewed in March 1937, and the road was completed in July 1937. The road was paved at a width of 5.5 meters and a length of 11.6 kilometres. [11] In March 1938, repairs were made to the road near kibbutz Sarid. [12]
Initially, there was talk of paving a 3-meter-wide road for 3,000 pounds, with the localities participating in half the cost. Later, however, it was decided on a 5.5-meter-wide road for 17,500 pounds, and the government demanded that the localities participate in 5,000 pounds. On the advice of Moshe Sharett, the localities agreed, as part of the amount was promised by other localities in the area that also benefited from the paving of the road. [13]

Nazareth is the largest city in the Northern District of Israel. In 2021 its population was 77,925. Nazareth serves as a cultural, political, religious, economic and commercial center for the Arab citizens of Israel. Known as "the Arab capital of Israel", it is also a center of Arab and Palestinian nationalism. The inhabitants are predominantly Arab citizens of Israel, of whom 69% are Muslim and 30.9% Christian. The city also commands immense religious significance, deriving from its status as the hometown of Jesus, the central figure of Christianity.
Moshe Sharett was an Israeli politician who served as the second prime minister of Israel from 1954 to 1955. A member of Mapai, Sharett's term was both preceded and succeeded by the premiership of David Ben-Gurion. He also served as the country's first foreign minister between 1948 and 1956.

Abba Hushi was an Israeli politician who served as mayor of Haifa for eighteen years between 1951 and 1969. Hushi was one of the founders and activists of Hashomer Hatzair movement in Poland. In July 1920, he immigrated to the then British Mandate of Palestine with a group of 130 Jewish pioneers. There he took the Hebrew surname "Hushi" ["speedy"], a translation of his original name, Schneller. He built roads and drained swamps, and helped to found kibbutz Beit Alfa. He was one of the founding members of the Histadrut labor federation. In 1927, he settled in Haifa and joined the Ahdut HaAvoda party, which later merged with Mapai. He was secretary of the Haifa Workers Council from 1931 to 1951. Hushi was elected to Israel's first Knesset in 1949 as a member of Mapai. Before the 1951 elections, he left the government to become mayor of Haifa. As mayor, he helped to found the University of Haifa, the Haifa Theatre, the Tikotin Museum of Japanese Art, the Mane-Katz Museum and the Carmelit.
Highway 5 or the Trans-Samaria Highway, is one of Israel's main highways, connecting the Mediterranean coast immediately north of Tel Aviv with the central Sharon plain and eastwards to Ariel and other Israeli settlements in the northern West Bank.
Route 443 is also known as Ma'ale Beit Horon, following the ancient east-west trade route connecting the Via Maris and the Way of the Patriarchs. It is the main highway connecting Tel Aviv and Gush Dan with Jerusalem via Modi'in. While technically listed as a regional road, it is, for the most part, a divided, four-lane highway which utilizes some grade separation and interchanges, as well as major at-grade intersections, and thus is not classified as a motorway, even though there is a short motorway section on its western end, connecting it to westbound Highway 1.
Highway 60 or is a south–north intercity road in Israel and the Palestinian West Bank that stretches from Beersheba to Nazareth.
Mishmar HaEmek is a kibbutz in northern Israel. Located in the western Jezreel Valley, it falls under the jurisdiction of the Megiddo Regional Council. Mishmar HaEmek is one of the few kibbutzim that have not undergone privatization and still follow the traditional collectivist and socialist kibbutz model. In 2021, it had a population of 1,267. At least six former members of the Knesset hail from Mishmar HaEmek.

Kfar Yehoshua is a moshav in northern Israel. Located between Haifa and Nazareth, it falls under the jurisdiction of Jezreel Valley Regional Council. In 2021 it had a population of 1,244.
Yokneam is a moshava in the Northern District of Israel. Located on the outskirts of the city of Yokneam Illit on the border of the Jezreel Valley and the Menashe Heights, it falls under the jurisdiction of the Megiddo Regional Council and is administrated by a local committee which is elected every five years. In 2021 it had a population of 1,376.
MV Empire Cross was a motor tanker that was built in England in 1945. She was launched as an Empire ship for the Ministry of War Transport (MoWT). In 1946 she exploded and sank in Haifa in Palestine, killing 25 of her crew.
Highway 45 is the official designation of a 3.3 km stretch of road forming a continuous connection between Route 443 from the Tel Aviv Metropolitan Area and Highway 50 to central Jerusalem and a 1.4 km spur serving the Atarot Industrial Park.
Highway 16 is a highway at the western entrance to Jerusalem providing direct access to the southern and central sections of the city from the west. Most of the road is located inside newly built tunnels. The project cost approximately 1.5 billion shekels, and was inaugurated a year ahead of schedule on August 31, 2022.

Hadera East railway station is a former railway station in Hadera, Israel. It originally served as the northern terminus of the Eastern Railway. In 1968, the line was closed to passengers and the railway south of the station to Kfar Saba was abandoned. A short section of the Eastern Railway connecting the station north to the Coastal railway line was left in operation—being used by freight trains serving the Granot "Ambar North" large feed mill complex near Gan Shmuel that is located adjacent to Hadera East station.
The Labor, Welfare and Health Committee of the Knesset deals with labor, employment and welfare matters, which operates continuously from the first Knesset until the dissolution of the 20th Knesset. After not being filled during the 21st and 22nd Knessets due to the lack of a government, in the 23rd Knesset, the Knesset plenum approved the proposal of the organizing committee to establish it as a special committee on welfare and labor that will operate until the establishment of the standing committees. The special committee was headed by Aida Touma-Suleiman from the Joint List, until Haim Katz was elected to chair the committee. Following the formation of the Israeli government, the committee was split - into the Labor and Welfare Committee, and the Health Committee. The chair of the Labor and Welfare Committee is Efrat Raytan from the Labor Party, and the chair of the Health Committee is Idit Silman from Yamina party.
A leadership election was held by the Israeli Labor Party party on 19 November 2002. Mayor of Haifa Amram Mitzna defeated incumbent Leader Binyamin Ben-Eliezer and Member of the Knesset Haim Ramon.
Municipal elections took place in Israel on 2 November 1965, alongside elections to the sixth Knesset.
