Visakhapatnam Fishing Harbour is a harbour in Visakhapatnam. It opened in 1976 beside Visakhapatnam Port. [1]

Contents

The harbour spreads over 26 hectares. It is operated by the Visakhapatnam Port Trust. Its capacity is 700 mechanised boats and 300 beach landing crafts, with an annual turnover of 7,500 crores. [2]

The Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL), also known as the Sewri-Nhava Sheva Trans Harbour Link, is an under-construction 21.8 kilometres (13.5 mi), freeway grade road bridge connecting the Indian city of Mumbai with Navi Mumbai, its satellite city. When completed, it would be the longest sea bridge in India. The bridge will begin in Sewri, South Mumbai and cross Thane Creek north of Elephanta Island and will terminate at Chirle village, near Nhava Sheva. The road will be linked to the Mumbai Pune Expressway in the east and to the proposed Western Freeway in the west. The sea link will contain a 6 lane highway, which will be 27 meters in width, in addition to two emergency exit lanes, edge strip and crash barrier.

Royapuram fishing harbour, also known as Chennai fishing harbour or Kasimedu fishing harbour, is one of the major fishing grounds for catching fishes and crustaceans located at Kasimedu in the Royapuram area of Chennai, India. The harbour is located north of the Chennai Port and is under the administrative control of the Chennai Port Trust. The harbour is also a shipbuilding facility, chiefly building fishing boats. The nearest railway station is the Royapuram Railway Station.

INS Varsha is a new naval base being developed under Project Varsha for the Indian Navy. This base will be the home of the navy's new fleet of nuclear submarines and ships. It was planned to be located within a radius of approximately 200 kilometres from Visakhapatnam, the headquarters of the navy's Eastern Naval Command. Previous news reports suggested that Gangavaram had been the initial site for the new base. The base is now being developed at Rambilli, which is 50 km from Visakhapatnam.

The Sagarmala Programme is the flagship programme of the Ministry of Shipping to promote port-led development in the country by exploiting India's 7,500 km long coastline, 14,500 km of potentially navigable waterways and its strategic location on key international maritime trade routes. Sagarmala aims to modernize India's Ports so that port-led development can be augmented and coastlines can be developed to contribute to India's growth. It also aims at "transforming the existing Ports into modern world-class Ports and integrate the development of the Ports, the Industrial clusters and hinterland and efficient evacuation systems through road, rail, inland and coastal waterways resulting in Ports becoming the drivers of economic activity in coastal areas."

Petuaghat Fishing Harbour Fishing port in West Bengal, India

Petuaghat Fishing Harbour is a fishing harbour established near the mouth of the Rasulpur river at Petuaaghat in Purba Medinipur district. The port originated in 2010 in the then West Bengal's then-fashioned MK Narayanan. The port has been developed in 11.8 hectares of land. The port is one of India's 7th largest fishing ports. The port has 400 deep sea fishing trawlers and 200 traditional trawlers. One ice mill, ice house, fake fabric center and trailer oil sales center at the port. It has also been proposed to build a trailer repair center here.
