The 1983 Canadian Grand Prix was a Formula One motor race held at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve on 12 June 1983. It was the eighth race of the 1983 Formula One World Championship.
The 70-lap race was won from pole position by Frenchman René Arnoux, driving a Ferrari. American Eddie Cheever finished second in a Renault, with Arnoux's compatriot and teammate Patrick Tambay third. Tambay moved to within three points of Drivers' Championship leader Alain Prost, who finished fifth in the other Renault.

René Alexandre Arnoux is a French former racing driver who competed in 12 Formula One seasons. He participated in 165 World Championship Grands Prix winning seven of them, achieving 22 podium finishes and scoring 181 career points. His best finish in the World Drivers' Championship was third in 1983 for Ferrari. In 1977, Arnoux won the European Formula Two Championship. In 2006 he raced in the inaugural season of the Grand Prix Masters series for retired F1 drivers.

This was the final pole position, podium, finish, and points for 1978 World Champion Mario Andretti at this race. René Arnoux won the race. Arnoux announced he would be replacing Andretti at Ferrari in 1983. Arnoux finished ahead of his Ferrari teammate in 1983 Patrick Tambay, and Mario Andretti in the second Ferrari finished third. John Watson's fourth place put him 9 points behind Keke Rosberg with an outside chance of winning the Drivers' Title at the final race at Caesars Palace, where Ferrari, McLaren, and Renault would battle for the Constructors' Title. Both Brabham cars ran strongly early on but dropped out after several laps due to mechanical failures, a problem that would often compromise their otherwise fast package in 1982.
