The 2021 FIM Motocross World Championship was the 65th FIM Motocross World Championship season. [1]
In the MXGP class, Tim Gajser started the season as the reigning champion after picking up his fourth world title in 2020. In MX2, Tom Vialle was the defending champion as he picked up his maiden world title in the previous year. The 2021 season saw the debut of Beta as a manufacturer in the MXGP class. [2]
The championship was contested over eighteen rounds. [1]
Russian athletes competed as a neutral competitors using the designation MFR (Motorcycle Federation of Russia), as the Court of Arbitration for Sport upheld a ban on Russia competing at World Championships. The ban was implemented by the World Anti-Doping Agency in response to state-sponsored doping program of Russian athletes. [3]

The 2015 FIM Motocross World Championship was the 59th F.I.M. Motocross World Championship season. It included 18 events, starting at Losail in Qatar on 28 February, and ending at San Bernardino, California in the United States on 20 September. In the main MXGP class, Tony Cairoli was the six-time defending champion, and entered the 2015 season looking to score a record seventh consecutive premier class title, for Red Bull KTM. He and Maximilian Nagl started the year strong, and as the German round rolled around Nagl had a 30 points lead over Cairoli and 38 over rookie Romain Febvre. Nagl got injured on practice and missed the next 5 rounds, ending his hopes of a maiden championship. Cairoli was struggling during the summer and ended up injured as well. Romain Febvre won the title and became the first French premier-class champion. In the MX2 class, Jordi Tixier was the defending champion, after taking the title in the final race of the 2014 season, also for Red Bull KTM. Tixier defends his title with Team Monster Energy Kawasaki.
The 2017 FIM Motocross World Championship was the 61st FIM Motocross World Championship season. It included 20 events, starting at Losail in Qatar on 25 February, and ending at Villars-sous-Écot in France on 17 September. In the main MXGP class, Tim Gajser was the defending champion after taking his first title in 2016. In the MX2 class, Jeffrey Herlings was the 2016 champion, but he moved up to the MXGP class after taking his third MX2 title.
The 2017 Motocross des Nations was a motocross race held on 1 October and 2 October 2017. The event was held at the Matterley Basin circuit, near Winchester, Great Britain. The event was originally meant to be held at Glen Helen Raceway in California, but had to be rescheduled due to concerns about crowd size.
The 2018 FIM Motocross World Championship was the 62nd FIM Motocross World Championship season. It included 20 events, started at Neuquen in Argentina on 4 March, and ended at Imola in Italy on 30 September. Jeffrey Herlings dominated the main championship by winning 33 races out of 40, getting on the podium in every race he started.
The 2018 European Motocross Championship was the 30th European Motocross Championship season since it was revived in 1988. It included 16 events and 5 different classes. It started at Valkenswaard in the Netherlands on 18 April, and ended at Imola in Italy on 30 September. All rounds acted as support classes at the European rounds of the 2018 MXGP.
The 2020 FIM Motocross World Championship was the 64th FIM Motocross World Championship season. It had 18 events, starting at Matterley Basin on 1 March and ending at Pietramurata, Italy on 8 November. No races were held from April to July due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The 2019 Motocross des Nations was a motocross race held on 28 September and 29 September 2019 at the Assen circuit, in The Netherlands. Motocross des Nations was last held in The Netherlands in 2004 but never at this venue.
The 2021 European Motocross Championship is the 33rd European Motocross Championship season since it was revived in 1988. It includes 15 events and 6 different classes. It will start in Italy on 25 April, and will end at a yet to be announced location on 31 October. All rounds will act as support classes at the European rounds of the 2021 MXGP.

The 2023 FIM Motocross World Championship was the 67th FIM Motocross World Championship season.
Max Anstie is a British professional motocross and Supercross racer. Anstie was the 2023 FIM Supercross World Champion in the SX2 class. He is a two-time Australian Supercross champion in the SX2 class.
Valentin Guillod is a Swiss professional Motocross racer. Guillod has competed in the Motocross World Championship since 2010 and is a three-time grand prix winner in the MX2 class.
Lucas Coenen is a Belgian professional Motocross racer. Coenen has competed in the Motocross World Championship since 2022 in the MX2 class and from 2025 will compete in the MXGP class.
Roan van de Moosdijk is a Dutch professional Motocross racer.
Kevin Horgmo is a Norwegian professional motocross racer. He has been competing in the FIM Motocross World Championship since 2019. In 2023, Horgmo won his first race at World Championship-level in the MX2 class.
