Elected Representative

TBD

A special election is scheduled to be held in the U.S. state of Mississippi on March 11, 2025 to elect a new member for District 82 in the Mississippi House of Representatives, representing parts of Meridian. The election will fill a vacancy caused by the death of Democratic member Charles Young Jr., who died on December 19, 2024. [1] This election will be held concurrently with a special election in House District 23.

Background

Prior to his death, District 82 was represented by Democrat Charles Young Jr. since 2012. After defeating incumbent representative Wilbert Jones in the 2011 Democratic primary and winning the general election unopposed, Young won three more terms to the state house without opposition in both in the Democratic primary and in the general election.
