Alok Nembang was a Nepali film director. He was also a well-known music video director in Nepal for more than a decade. [1]
After returning to Nepal from the United States, where he gained knowledge about theater and film-making, Alok directed over 500 music videos of Nepali music. [2] In an interview, he had once stated, "I am inspired by many things and incorporate them on my work but I don't copy".[ citation needed ] He began his career as a VJ in Image Channel in Nepal in 1998. His debut music video was Lakhau Patak by Nabin K. Bhattarai. Alok acted in the Limbu language film Numafung in 2004. His passion for making films was fulfilled with the production of Sano Sansar (2008), which was a big hit. Alok's second directorial venture Kohi Mero (2010) made him popular among the Nepalese cinema audience. [3] His third film Ajhai Pani was released in February 2015 after his death.
On November 6, 2014, Alok was found dead at his home in Kathmandu in an apparent suicide. [4] [5] [6]

This includes films in various languages of Nepal, most notably in Nepali, Maithili and Bhojpuri. The term Kollywood is also used, as a portmanteau for films produced in the Nepali language while the Nepalese films produced from Kathmandu and Janakpur in the Maithili language is known as Mithilawood. Sano Sansar is a 2008 Nepali romantic comedy film directed by Alok Nembang. The film has a massive star cast which includes Neer Shah and newcomers Mahesh Shakya, Jiwan Luitel and Namrata Shrestha. Sano Sansar is director Alok Nembang's directorial debut and is the second Nepali HD movie made after Kagbeni. The film is heavily influenced by the Korean movie My Sassy Girl and the English-language movie You've Got Mail. In 2021, Sano Sansar was shown again in theaters after COVID-19 lockdown ended in the country, it was after 13 years of its official release date it was shown again in some of the theaters. They took this decision in order to bring back audience to the theaters, because producers were not ready to release their unreleased films in fear of losing potential audience, since they were unsure if people are ready to attend theater after long pandemic.

Numafung is a 2004 Nepalese film that portrays the culture and tradition of the Limbu community. It is directed by Nabin Subba.
