It is operated under the Kelana Jaya LRT system network as found in the station signage. Like most other LRT stations operating in the Klang Valley, this station is elevated.
The station has an entrance from the neighbourhood of Taman Mayang Emas near the Evolve concept mall, Japanese School of Kuala Lumpur, and another entrance from the Subang Airport Road which it faces.

Bandar Utama Damansara is a residential township located within the Sungai Buloh mukim (subdivision) of the Petaling District, Selangor, Malaysia. It is a residential suburb and home to the popular 1 Utama Shopping Centre. Bandar Utama Damansara, together with neighbouring Kampung Sungai Kayu Ara, form the PJU 6 section of the city of Petaling Jaya.

Island & Peninsular Berhad commenced the township development under Perumahan Kinrara Berhad in 1991. The only link road to the development then was via Jalan Puchong before entering Kinrara Army Camp road.
