History
The station is named after and located at the rear of Plaza Rakyat, a large mixed-use development project that was stalled during the economic crisis in 1997. Due to its proximity with Plaza Rakyat as it was opened, the concourse level of the Plaza Rakyat station was originally intended to directly link the south side of the complex.
With Plaza Rakyat incomplete, a 150-metre-long covered pedestrian bridge and walkway was provided to connect the station to the south of the nearby Pudu Sentral bus station. Due to the suspension of the construction project, the pedestrian bridge continues to serve passengers entering and leaving the station until now.
The station is located near the site of the old Sultan Street railway station.
Connection to MRT Kajang Line
The Plaza Rakyat LRT station is an interchange station with Merdeka MRT station since 17 July 2017. It was initially meant to be only a connecting station without paid zone-to-paid zone integration, but a later update included paid zone-to-paid zone integration, where commuters do not need to tap out and purchase new tickets to transit to the other line. A covered and air-conditioned 180 metres pedestrian walkway was built, connecting the paid-area concourses of the two stations.
Kuala Lumpur Sentral Station is a transit-oriented development that houses the main railway station of Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia. Opened on 16 April 2001, KL Sentral replaced the old Kuala Lumpur railway station as the city's main intercity railway station. KL Sentral is the largest railway station in Malaysia, and the second largest in Southeast Asia, behind Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Terminal in Bangkok, Thailand.
Rapid KL is a public transportation system owned by Prasarana Malaysia and operated by its subsidiaries Rapid Rail and Rapid Bus. With its coverage throughout Kuala Lumpur and Klang Valley areas, it was followed by a federal government restructuring of public transport systems in Kuala Lumpur after the bankruptcy of STAR and PUTRA Light Rapid Transit operators, the precursors to the Ampang/Sri Petaling Lines and Kelana Jaya Line respectively. In 2003, it had inherited bus services and assets formerly operated and owned by Intrakota and Cityliner after being bailed out. Four years later, the Malaysian government had bailed out KL Infrastructure Group, the owner and operation concession holder for the Kuala Lumpur monorail, and had placed it under ownership of Prasarana.
Bandar Tasik Selatan station (BTS) is a major Malaysian interchange station located next to and named after Bandar Tasik Selatan, in Kuala Lumpur. The station serves as both a stop and an interchange for the KTM Komuter's Seremban Line, KTM ETS, the LRT Sri Petaling Line, and the Express Rail Link's KLIA Transit trains. BTS is integrated with the Terminal Bersepadu Selatan bus hub (TBS). BTS and TBS are developed as an intermodal transportation hub.

Chan Sow Lin station is an integrated metro station in Pudu, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The station serves as an interchange station between the LRT Sri Petaling Line, LRT Ampang Line and the MRT Putrajaya Line. The station consists of an at-grade station for the Ampang and Sri Petaling lines, and an underground station for the Putrajaya line. Both stations are connected by an elevated pedestrian walkway, allowing paid-to-paid integration.
Hang Tuah station, also known as BBCC - Hang Tuahstation due to the new transit hub, is an interchange station in the Pudu district of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, between the Ampang and Sri Petaling Lines and the KL Monorail. Seamless physical and fare integration was achieved on 1 March 2012 when the "paid-up" or restricted areas of both the LRT and monorail stations, which previously operated as two separate stations, were linked up, allowing passengers to transfer without needing to buy new tickets for the first time since the monorail became operational in 2003.
The Pasar Seni station is an integrated rapid transit station in Kuala Lumpur that is served by the Kelana Jaya Line KJL and the Kajang Line KGL . The station is named after the nearby Central Market and is located near Petaling Street and the area known as the Chinatown of Kuala Lumpur.

Sultan Ismail LRT station is a rapid transit station in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, operated by RapidKL served by the Ampang Line and Sri Petaling Line. This station was opened in 1996, along with 17 other LRT stations, as Phase 1 of the STAR LRT Line. It was the terminus of the Ampang-Sultan Ismail route before the extension to Sentul Timur. The Klang Valley Integrated Transit System is an integrated transport network that primarily serves the area of Klang Valley and Greater Kuala Lumpur. The system currently consists of 12 fully operating rail lines; two commuter rail lines, six rapid transit lines, one bus rapid transit line and two airport rail links to the Kuala Lumpur International Airport and another one to the Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport.
The Merdeka MRT station is a mass rapid transit (MRT) underground station in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It is one of the stations of the Klang Valley Mass Rapid Transit (KVMRT) MRT Kajang Line, formerly known as Sungai Buloh–Kajang Line and serves as an interchange station with Plaza Rakyat LRT station for LRT Ampang and Sri Petaling lines. The station was opened on 17 July 2017 under Phase Two operations of the MRT line.
The Maluri station is an integrated light rapid transit (LRT) and mass rapid transit (MRT) located on the eastern fringe of Kuala Lumpur near and named after Taman Maluri, a residential housing estate. The station is located along Federal Route 1 Jalan Cheras opposite the AEON Taman Maluri shopping centre and Sunway Velocity Mall. The Kerayong River also runs beside the station.
