C.S. Chandrika is an Indian author in Malayalam from Kerala who writes fiction and non-fiction and is also a social scientist, activist, and columnist involved in women's and human rights and environmental and development concerns.

Education

Chandrika gained a bachelor's degree in botany [1] and a master's degree in Malayalam language and literature and women studies. She has a PhD in Fine Arts from University of Calicut. [2]

Career

Chandrika has taught at the Centre for Women's Studies, Pondicherry, and has also worked widely in the area of gender and development. She is also associated with Sakhi Women's Resource Centre, Kerala. [3]

Publications

Chandrika has published both academic and fictional works. She was one of the editors of The Oxford India Anthology of Malayalam Dalit Writing, which was a collection of Malayalam Dalit writing of the 20th century. [4] [5] She won the Thoppil Ravi Award for her story collection Kleptomania in 2012. [6] The Muthukulam Parvathy Amma Award was bestowed upon her in 2010 for her essay titled "Aarthavamulla Sthreekal". Her interview along with her story was published in Malayalathinte Kathakarikal, which listed her among ten prominent Malayali women writers. Unnikrishnan Puthur was a Malayalam–language novelist and short story writer. Puthur wrote about 700 short stories and published 29 collections of short stories, 15 novels, a collection of poems and autobiographical writings, among others. He was awarded Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award for the novel Balikkallu in 1968. He received the Odakkuzhal Award in the year 2010 for the book Anubhavangalude Ner Rekhakal.

She is a writer of fiction, a translator, and critic in English and Malayalam. Chandramathi has published four books in English and 20 in Malayalam, including 12 collections of short stories, an anthology of medieval Malayalam poetry, two collections of essays, two memoirs, and five books translated from English. The Malayalam film Njandukalude Nattil Oridavela was based on her book.

C. V. Balakrishnan is an Indian writer of Malayalam literature. His novels and short stories encompass the emotional issues related to mass culture, sexual politics, fate of the marginalised and institutionalised religions. An author of more than 60 literary works along with a few film scripts and film criticisms, his best known work is the novel Ayussinte Pusthakam. He received the Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award thrice and the Kerala State Film Award for Best Book on Cinema in 2002 for Cinemayude Idangal. In 2014, he won the Padmaprabha Literary Award.

Ashitha was an Indian writer of Malayalam literature, best known for her short stories, poems and translations. She helped popularize haiku poems in Malayalam through her translations. She was a recipient of the Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award for Story and other honours including the Padmarajan Award, Lalithambika Anterjanam Smaraka Sahitya Award and Edasseri Award.

T. N. Gopinathan Nair, was an Indian dramatist, novelist, poet, screenwriter and biographer of Malayalam language. One of the prolific among Malayalam playwrights, Nair published 39 plays, besides his four novels, four poetry anthologies and five biographies. He was a member of the council of Kerala Sahitya Akademi and held the char of the Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi. His drama, Pareeksha, received the Vikraman Nair Trophy for the best drama and the Kerala Sahitya Akademi selected his work, Sakshi, for their annual award for drama in 1979.

Leela Sarkar is a Singaporean-Indian Malayalam language writer from Kerala, South India. She won Sahitya Akademi Translation Prize in 1993 and Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award for Translation in 2000.

Kadathanat Madhavi Amma was an Indian poet, novelist and short story writer of Malayalam literature. Known for poetry anthologies such as Kalyopaharam and Kanikkonna, she was also the author of two works based on Vadakkan Pattukal viz. Thacholi Othenan and Payyamvelli Chandu. The Kerala Sahitya Akademi awarded her their annual award for overall contributions in 1996.

Vettoor Raman Nair was a Malayalam language writer from Kerala, India. He was the founding editor of humor magazine Pakkanar and founding chairman of the Pala Sahrudaya Samiti. He has received Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award for his short story collection Puzha and Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award for Overall Contributions in the field of Malayalam literature.

Aryambika S. V. is a Malayalam language poet from Kerala, India. She received several awards including Yuva Puraskar by Sahithya Akademi and Kanakasree Award by Kerala Sahitya Akademi.

Rosemary is a Malayalam language poet and translator from Kerala, India. She has received many awards including Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award for Overall Contributions in 2019. Her autobiography, Nilaavil Oru Panineerchampa was published in 2021.
