Abu Dhabi Sakthi Award is a literary award instituted by UAE-based Abu Dhabi Sakthi Theatres and awarded to writers in Malayalam literature. Instituted in 1987, it is given in various categories such as novel, story, poetry, drama, literary criticism, scholarly literature and children's literature. The award for literary criticism is named Sakthi Thayat Award (after writer Thayat Sankaran, given since 1989), the award instituted for overall contributions is named T. K. Ramakrishnan Award (after communist politician T. K. Ramakrishnan, given since 2007), and the award for other categories of literature is named Sakthi Erumeli Award (after Erumeli Parameswaran Pillai, renamed since 2014). [1] [2]

Thinakkal Padmanabhan, popularly known as T. Padmanabhan, is an Indian short story writer of Malayalam literature. He is a recipient of several awards including the Ezhuthachan Puraskaram, the highest literary award of the Government of Kerala. He declined some of the earlier awards he was selected for which include Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award (1973), Odakkuzhal Award (1995) and Sahitya Akademi Award (1996). Mahatma Gandhi University conferred on him the honoris causa degree of the Doctor of Letters in 2018. In 2023, he was honoured with the Kerala Jyothi Award, the highest civilian award given by the Kerala Government.
M. K. Sanu is an Indian Malayalam-language writer, critic, retired professor, biographer, journalist, orator, social activist, and human rights activist. He has authored over thirty-six books.
G. R. Indugopan, is an Indian screenwriter, director and a writer of Malayalam literature. Known as one of the post-modern writers of Malayalam, Indugopan is the director of the 2007 Malayalam movie, Ottakkayyan, and has published several books which include novels, short story anthologies, memoirs and travelogue.
M. M. Basheer is a Malayalam literary critic who has written more than forty critical works on Malayalam poetry, short stories and novels. He has also been awarded the Sahitya Akademi Award Fellowship of 2022.
Subhash Chandran is a Malayalam novelist, short story writer and journalist from Kerala, India. His work includes the 2010 novel Manushyanu Oru Aamukham and the stories "Vadhakramam", "Sanmargam", "Parudeesa Nashtam" and "Guptham", which have been adapted into films. Chandran is the only writer to receive Kerala Sahitya Akademi Awards for both his debut story collection (2001) and debut novel (2011).
Puthussery Ramachandran Pillai was an Indian poet of the Malayalam language. He was a scholar of Dravidian linguistics and a professor of Malayalam for more than three decades. On 14 March 2020, he died of age-related illnesses.
Kalavoor Ravikumar is an Indian author, screenwriter and film director who works in the Malayalam film and literature.
K. Rekha is a Malayalam short story writer and journalist.
Susmesh Chandroth is an Indian writer, who writes in Malayalam. He won the first Yuva Puraskar for Malayalam in 2011 instituted by the Sahitya Akademi, Government of India. Susmesh Chandroth is also involved in the Malayalam film industry. He scripted and directed the feature film Padmini (film) based on the life story of the painter T. K. Padmini in the year 2018.
M. R. Raghava Varier, also M. R. Raghava Warrier, is an Indian epigraphist and historian, formerly a Professor at the University of Calicut, from Kerala. He currently lives in Cheliya, Edakkulam-Koyilandi in Kerala. Varier is generally considered as left historian by political analysts.
Chakkalakal Lonappan Jose, is an Indian playwright of Malayalam literature. One of the pioneers of popular Malayalam theatre and a former chairman of the Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi, Jose is the author of 36 plays, 75 one-act plays, one children's play and Ormakalkku Urakkamilla, his autobiography. He is a recipient of the Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award for Drama, Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award for Overall Contributions, Kerala Sahitya Akademi Fellowship, Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi Award, Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi Fellowship and S. L. Puram Sadanandan Puraskaram of the Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi.
Desamangalam Ramakrishnan is a Malayalam–language poet, translator, critic and teacher. He was born in 1948 in Desamangalam in Thalapilly taluk, Trichur district. He obtained his M.A. degree in Malayalam from Pattambi Sanskrit College. Subsequently, he joined the Calicut University and researched on Malayalam poetry under K. N. Ezhuthachan. He was awarded a fellowship from the Central Ministry of Culture. He worked as a lecturer at various government colleges from 1975 to 1989. He was a professor of Malayalam literature at the University of Kerala till his retirement in 2008. He then served as Emeritus Fellow of U. G. C. in Calicut University (2009-2011).
Cherukad Award is an annual award given for literary works in Malayalam. The award was instituted in 1978 by Cherukad Smaraka Trust at Perinthalmanna, Kerala, India. It is named after Malayalam playwright, poet, novelist, and political activist Cherukad Govinda Pisharodi. The award comprises ₹25,000 and a citation.
Ulloor S. Parameswara Iyer was one of the modern triumvirate poets of Malayalam poetry. There are two major annual literary awards instituted in his memory, both known by the name Ulloor Award.
V. Anil Kumar popularly known as Anil Vallathol is a Malayalam language writer and academic from Kerala, India. Anil hails from the family of the poet Vallathol Narayana Menon.
S. Ramesan was an Indian Malayalam language poet, orator and literary activist from Kerala.
Noonhil Vadakkemadathil Padmanabhan Unithiri is a multilingual scholar, author, researcher, poet, progressive thinker, translator and teacher from Kerala, India. He has authored around 200 books in Sanskrit, Malayalam and English languages including translated works.
E. P. Sreekumar is an Indian short story writer and novelist in Malayalam. He received the Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award for Story in 2010 for his collection Parasya Sareeram. He is also a recipient of Abu Dhabi Sakthi Award, C. V. Sreeraman Award and Ulloor Award.
Haritha Savithry is a Malayalam writer, human rights activist and translator. She was awarded the Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award in 2022 for the travalogue Murivettavarude Pathakal in 2022 and for the novel Zîn in 2023.
The literary awards instituted by the Abudabi Malayala Samajam were given to K. M. Raghavan Nambiar for his drama ' Kalakootam ', Pangil Bhaskaran for his novel ' Bhrityanmar ' and Prabhavarma for his poem ' Mrithyumjayam ' .
