The Dardanelle Post Office, originally the Dardanelle Agriculture and Post Office, is a historic government building at 103 North Front Street in downtown Dardanelle, Arkansas. It is a single-story brick building, with a hip roof. It has a five-bay front facade, with a center entrance flanked by pilasters and topped by a panel, transom window, and dentillated entablature. Built in 1937, it has modest Colonial Revival style, and is most notable for the mural in the lobby, painted in 1939 by Ludwig Mactarian, and entitled "Cotton Growing, Manufacture and Export". [2]

The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1998. [1]

Arkansas Highway 22

Highway 22 is an east–west state highway in the Arkansas River Valley. It is maintained by the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD). The highway runs 75.60 miles (121.67 km) from US 64/US 71B east to Highway 7 in Dardanelle. Following the historic stagecoach line of the cross-country Butterfield Trail, the highway is one of the original 1926 state highways. It is designated by the AHTD as the True Grit Trail.

Mount Nebo (Arkansas)

Located near Dardanelle, Arkansas and rising 1,350 feet (410 m) above the mountain valleys of west central Arkansas, Mount Nebo has a view of 34,000 acres (140 km2) Lake Dardanelle, the Arkansas River and the surrounding mountain ridges. Atop this biblically named plateau, fringed by the Ouachita National Forest, is Mount Nebo State Park. Developed as a resort area in the late 19th century, it became a state park in 1928, its early development spearheaded by the Civilian Conservation Corps. Park activities include hiking, camping, and other outdoor pursuits.

Arkansas Highway 28

Highway 28 is designation for three east–west state highways in Western Arkansas. Two segments together running from the Oklahoma state line to Ola have been established since the original 1926 Arkansas state highway numbering, with the third segment designated in 1963. All three highways are rural, two-lane roads with relatively low traffic serving a sparsely populated and forested part of Arkansas. The highways are maintained by the Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT).

First Presbyterian Church (Dardanelle, Arkansas) United States historic place

The First Presbyterian Church is a historic church at 200 North Second Street in Dardanelle, Arkansas. It is a roughly rectangular masonry structure, built out of buff-colored brick and light stone trim. Its front facade consists of a pair of quoined and crenellated tower-like sections flanking a four-column pedimented gable portico, which shelters the entrance. Built in 1912–14, it is locally distinctive for its Classical Revival architecture, and for its Akron Plan interior.

The Berry House was a historic building in Dardanelle, Arkansas. It was originally built in 1872 as the First Presbyterian Church. About 1912, it was converted to a private residence, and the congregation moved into its current location.

The congregation was organized in 1848, and first met in a schoolhouse prior to the construction of its first sanctuary in 1858.

The Dardanelle Confederate Monument is located near the Yell County Courthouse on Union Street in Dardanelle, Arkansas, United States. Erected by the United Daughters of the Confederacy (UDC) in 1921, the monument was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1996 as part of the Civil War Commemorative Sculpture Multiple Property Submission.

McGehee Post Office United States historic place

The former McGehee Post Office building is a historic post office facility at 201 North Second Street in McGehee, Arkansas. The single story masonry building was designed by the Office of the Supervising Architect under Louis A. Simon, and built in 1937. A Colonial Revival building, it features a cupola with round-arch louvered vents, and a front entry that is flanked by Doric columns supporting a cornice with a golden eagle. The building served as a post office until 1999, after which it was purchased by the McGehee Industrial Foundation.

The Dardanelle Commercial Historic District encompasses the part of the historic central business district of Dardanelle, Arkansas. The district extends along Front Street, from Pine Street in the north to nearly Oak Street in the south, and includes some properties on adjacent cross streets. Although this area has been commercially active since the 1820s, its present architecture reflects the late 19th and early 20th centuries, with modestly scaled one and two story masonry building predominating.

Thomas James Cotton House United States historic place

The Thomas James Cotton House is a historic house at 405 South Third Street in Dardanelle, Arkansas. It is a 1+12-story wood-frame structure, built in 1898 and extensively remodeled in 1916 to give it its present Craftsman appearance. It has a side-gable roof, with exposed rafter ends, which extends over a shallow front porch supported by unusually wide square columns. A wide clipped-gable dormer projects from the front roof face, with a band of casement windows flanked by shutters.

Kimball House (Dardanelle, Arkansas) United States historic place

The Kimball House is a historic house at 713 North Front Street in Dardanelle, Arkansas. It is a two-story brick building, covered by a hip roof, with a single-story porch extending across the front, supported by square posts with chamfered corners and moulded capitals. The building corners have brick quoining, and the roof eave has paired brackets in the Italianate style. Windows are set in segmented-arch openings. Built in 1876, it is one of the city's finest examples of Italianate architecture.

Steamboat House (Dardanelle, Arkansas) United States historic place

The Steamboat House is an historic house at 601 North Front Street in Dardanelle, Arkansas. A two-story wood-frame structure, it has cross-gabled roof and weatherboard siding. It is trimmed in the Carpenter Gothic style, with an open single-story porch that has turned posts and a spindled frieze. On the second floor there are doors leading to small balconies with similar decoration. The house was built about 1890, and is a local example of the Steamboat gothic style.
