The Ministry of Department of Animal Husbandry is a department of Government of Maharashtra to regulate animal husbandry in Maharashtra.

Animal husbandry in Maharashtra

Many farmers in Maharashtra depend on animal husbandry for their livelihood. In addition to supplying milk, meat, eggs, wool, their castings (dung) and hides, animals, mainly bullocks, are the major source of power for both farmers and drayers. Thus, animal husbandry plays an important role in the rural economy. The national gross value of output from this sector was 8,123 billion Rupees in FY 2015–16. [1]

Organisational structure

Department is further divided into following sub-departments for ease of administration. [2]

Maharashtra Animal and Fishery Sciences University

Maharashtra Animal and Fishery Sciences University is an agriculture state university headquartered from Nagpur, Maharashtra, India. It was established under The Maharashtra Animal and Fishery Sciences University Act, 1998. [5] It was officially established on 3 December 2000 by carving seven colleges out of the other four state agriculture universities in Maharashtra. [6]

The seventh legislative assembly election to Tamil Nadu was held on 28 May 1980. The election was held two years before the end of the term of M. G. Ramachandran administration, as it was dissolved for the failure of state machinery by the then President of India Neelam Sanjiva Reddy. Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam allied with the Indian National Congress (Indira) and All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam with Janata Party. Despite their landslide victory of 37 out of 39 seats at the general election in January 1980, DMK and Indira Congress failed to win the legislative assembly election. AIADMK won the election and its leader and incumbent Chief Minister MGR was sworn in as Chief Minister for the second time.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Anil Deshmukh</span> Indian politician (born 1950)

Anil Vasantrao Deshmukh is an Indian politician from the state of Maharashtra. He is a senior leader of the Nationalist Congress Party. Deshmukh served as the Minister for Home Affairs in Government of Maharashtra between 2019 and 2021. Deshmukh resigned in 2021 as the Home Minister of Maharashtra due to allegations of extortion and laundering charges and is currently in judicial custody.

Nitin Kashinath Raut is an Indian politician, Businessman and social activist from Maharashtra. He was a former Cabinet minister in the Uddhav Thackeray ministry, Government of Maharashtra. He is the Working President of the Indian National Congress party Maharashtra and Chairman AICC for SC Department. He was the Cabinet Minister of Employment Guarantee and Water Conservation in the Government of Maharashtra, India until 2014.

Rajnikant Shankarrao Arole was born in Supa in the Ahmednagar district of Maharashtra, India on 10 July 1934, the second child of Shankar and Leelawati Salve Arole. His parents were both schoolteachers and his father became Inspector of Schools. The Aroles raised their three sons and four daughters in the faith of the Church of England, inculcating in them Christian ethical and spiritual values that have guided Rajnikant through a lifetime of public service.

JP Dange was the Chief Secretary Government of Maharashtra and Civil service IAS officer in Maharashtra. He Graduated from Nagpur University with Bachelors in Law (L.L.B) and Commerce (B.Com) and Post-graduated from Pune University with Masters in Business Administration (M.B.A). He further did M.Sc in Development Administration from Bath University under the Colombo Plan. He was 'AIR' - 38 at Combined Defense Services Examination 1972 in first attempt and appointed as Commissioned Officer in IAF at Defense Services Staff College, Wellington by the President of India. He was 'AIR' - 23 at the Union Public Service Commission Civil Services Examination 1973 in first attempt and got selected in the Indian Administrative Service (I.A.S) aged 21. He was appointed by the Union and State Government as the youngest 'Home Secretary' aged 37 Years after the serial Bombay Bomb Blasts, 1993. He was tasked as Competent Authority in capacity of Hon'ble Chief Secretary in management of Ajmal Kasab Hanging - Operation X in 2011-12. In recognition of his long and illustrious Administrative Service of 46 Years, he was given 'Best Governance Award' by Government of India, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs in 2020.

Telangana Secretariat, officially known as Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Telangana State Secretariat situated at Hyderabad, is the administrative office of the employees of the Government of Telangana in India. The Telangana government on 15 September 2022 has decided to name the new Secretariat complex as Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Telangana Secretariat. Designed by Chennai-based Architects Ponni Concessao and Oscar Concessao, the complex has been built by Shapoorji Pallonji and Company Pvt Limited with all Green Building Council norms. There is a 125-ft tall statue of Ambedkar beside the Telangana Secretariat.

The Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying is a ministry of the Government of India which is responsible for the matters related to fisheries, animal husbandry and dairying. The ministry came into existence on 31 May 2019 after the formation of the Second Modi ministry. Prior to becoming an independent ministry, the ministry was a department under the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare.
