Emmett J. Conrad High School is a public high school located in Vickery Meadow, Dallas, Texas. Emmett J. Conrad High School, which covers grades 9-12, is a part of the Dallas Independent School District. The school serves most of Vickery Meadow area and the DISD portion of Highland Meadows. [7] It is named in honor of Dallas surgeon and civic leader Emmett James Conrad. [8] In 2015, the school was rated "Met Standard" by the Texas Education Agency. [9]
The district projected that Conrad High School would have a higher enrollment. But by 2012 the enrollment was lower than expected as several area apartment complexes had been razed. [10] In 2015, its student body was 66% of the school's official capacity. [11]
Built in 2006 for $42.3 million, the school was designed to accommodate 2,000 students. [12] The 325,000-square-foot (30,200 m2) building features 46 core classrooms on 40 acres. It incorporates classrooms for performing arts, visual arts, media, science, and instructional technology. Additionally, the campus has student dining areas and athletic fields.

To date, under the leadership of Athletic Coordinator M.T. Tyeskie, Conrad High School has had 39 students receive athletic scholarships.[ citation needed ] Conrad has competed in five UIL state tournaments (cross-country 2016 and 2017, wrestling 2014 and 2018, and track and field 2018).
Conrad now has the distinction of being the expense of Diamond Hill-Jarvis High School ending their 77-game losing streak, the 2nd longest in Texas High School Football history. [14]
Small in size by 5A standards,[ citation needed ] the Conrad swimming and diving team found some success starting in the 2016-2017 season. Previously coached by Joanna McDowell in 2017, the team earned 3rd place at District UIL competition and won at other various meets.
Conrad has offered robotics programs to all students since 2009. The program is centered around FIRST Robotics Competition team FRC3005. The RoboChargers is a year round program which meets outside of school hours. The RoboChargers, founded in 2009, have won numerous awards in recent years, including their first "blue banner" event win at the Colorado Regional in 2018. [15] [16]
The RoboChargers have competed in the UIL State Robotics tournament since its initial year of creation in 2016. Competing in the FIRST (FRC) Division in 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019 and winning runner-up in 2018 with partners FRC148 and FRC4639. [17]
There are also four FIRST Tech Challenge teams, founded in 2017, that are part of the program.
The RoboCharger teams are supported and mentored by professionals from companies including Texas Instruments, Safeco, Boeing, and Exxon.
As of the 2022-2023 school year, L. L. Hotchkiss, Jack Lowe Sr., Lee McShan Jr., Highland Meadows, and Jill Stone Elementary Schools feed into Tasby Middle School and then Conrad High School. [18]

Although Vickery Place is considered by some to be part of the M Streets area, it is strictly speaking not as it is south of the Greenland Hills subdivision. Newman Smith High School is a public high school in Carrollton, Texas, United States in the Carrollton-Farmers Branch Independent School District. The school opened in 1975, and is named after the former CFBISD superintendent Newman Smith. Smith High School serves sections of Carrollton and Dallas. The School of Science and Engineering Magnet is a magnet college preparatory high school located in the Yvonne A. Ewell Townview Magnet Center, home of six magnet high schools in the Dallas Independent School District. SEM's mascot is an eagle, and its school colors are maroon and white. W. W. Samuell High School and Early College is a public secondary school located in the Pleasant Grove area of Dallas, Texas, US. Samuell High enrolls students in grades 9–12 and is a part of the Dallas Independent School District. The school serves portions of southeast Dallas and a portion of the city of Balch Springs.
Vickery is an ethnically-diverse neighborhood consisting almost exclusively of apartment complexes in Northeast Dallas, Texas, United States. The Midtown Improvement District states the neighborhood is bounded by Northwest Highway, Royal Lane, Central Expressway, and Abrams. The City of Dallas Office of Economic Development states that the boundaries of the Vickery Meadow Tax Increment Financing district, which was established in 2005, are “the east side of the intersection of US 75 and Park Lane and extends eastward along Park Lane to the ‘Five Points’ intersection at Park Lane, Fair Oaks Avenue and Ridgecrest Road.” Leslie Minora of the Dallas Observer described it as "a dense swath of about 100 apartment complexes cradled by NorthPark Center and Whole Foods to the west and Half Price books [sic] to the south. It's an overlooked anthill, population 25,000, packed with people here by circumstance."

Lower Greenville is a neighborhood in east Dallas, Texas (USA), west of Lakewood. Specifically, the neighborhood is the area adjacent to Greenville Avenue south of Mercedes Avenue and north of Belmont Avenue. Plano ISD Academy High School, commonly referred to as Academy High School, is a STEAM, interdisciplinary and project-based learning high school. The school serves students from grades 9-12. This school is not a regular secondary school because this school uses a selection process to draw eighth graders from various middle schools in Plano ISD. The school is an alternative to the regular high school experience by offering collaborative team projects, more STEAM classes and the ability to attend classes without structured class periods. This school is one of the three Academy Programs in Plano ISD. The others are the Plano ISD Health Sciences Academy and The IB World School at Plano East.
Emmett James Conrad was a surgeon and Dallas civic leader. He was the first African-American member of both the Dallas Independent School District's board of trustees and the Texas State Board of Education.
