Football at the 2016 Summer Olympics – Men's team squads

The following is a list of squads for each nation that competed in men's football at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. Each nation had to submit a squad of eighteen players, at least fifteen of whom had to be born on or after 1 January 1993, and three of whom could be older dispensation players. [1] A minimum of two goalkeepers (plus one optional dispensation goalkeeper) had to be included in the squad. [2]

Group A

Brazil

The following was the Brazil squad in the men's football tournament of the 2016 Summer Olympics. The team of 18 players was officially named on 29 June and confirmed on 14 July. [3] [4] On 31 July, Fernando Prass left the squad due to elbow injury and was replaced by Weverton. [5]

Douglas Costa was originally considered for the squad, but due to injury and his club Bayern Munich's refusal to release him, he was replaced by Renato Augusto. Fred, from Shakhtar Donetsk, was also considered for the squad, but his club did not release him for the tournament, and he was replaced by Walace.

Denmark

The following is the Danish final squad in the men's football tournament of the 2016 Summer Olympics. [6] [7] Yussuf Poulsen, Uffe Bech and Lasse Vigen Christensen left the squad due to several reasons and were replaced by Jacob Bruun Larsen, Jacob Barrett Laursen and Mathias Hebo. [8]

    Group C

    Fiji

    On 8 July, the Fiji Football Association announced a 24-man preliminary squad for the men's football tournament of the 2016 Summer Olympics. [19] On 16 July, the final 18-man squad was officially announced. [20] However, Kolinio Sivoki and Sakaraia Naisua were axed from the squad due to disciplinary reasons and Joseph Turagabeci joined the squad as a replacement. [21] [22]

    The following is a list of squads for each nation competing in men's football at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens. Each nation must submit a squad of 18 players, 15 of whom must be born on or after 1 January 1981, and three of whom can be older dispensation players.

    This article lists the team squads of Men's Football at the 2008 Summer Olympics. Each nation had to submit a squad of 18 players, 15 of which had to be born on or after 1 January 1985, and 3 of which could have been older dispensation players, by 23 July 2008. A minimum of two goalkeepers had to be included in the squad.

    The Portugal national under-23 football team represents Portugal in international football competitions in Olympic Games, as well as in under–23 football tournaments. The selection is limited to players under the age of 23, except three over-age players. The team is controlled by the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF). In three participations, Portugal's highest place was fourth, in 1996. This team also competed in the now-defunct Under-23 European Championship. The first time Portugal participated in the Olympic Football Tournament, they fielded main team players since the International Olympic Committee rules allowed to do so back then and in the 1980s, the team was composed of semi-professional players. Additionally, teams could name a maximum of four alternate players, numbered from 19 to 22. The alternate list could contain at most three outfielders, as at least one slot was reserved for a goalkeeper. In the event of serious injury during the tournament, an injured player could be replaced by one of the players in the alternate list. Only players in these squads were eligible to take part in the tournament.
