Indo-Tibetan Border Police (Water Wing) is a special unit of Indo-Tibetan Border Police of India.

The Water Wing of ITBP was established on 30 August 2011, with an initial strength over 125 personnel led by a commandant. It is responsible for patrolling riverine borders of Himalayan regions. This includes Pangong Tso Lake, Chang Chenmo River, Shyok River and Indus River in Leh district, and Brahmaputra river in Arunachal Pradesh. [1] [2] It offer logistical assistance to BoPs stationed there, aid in disaster management during water-related emergencies, and train ITBP soldiers in water-based operations. Its headquarters is at Tezpur, Assam. The Brahmaputra River, which flows here, offers a good site for its training.

The Yarlung Tsangpo Grand Canyon, also known as the Yarlung Zangbo Grand Canyon, the Tsangpo Canyon, the Brahmaputra Canyon or the Tsangpo Gorge, is a canyon along the Yarlung Tsangpo River in Tibet Autonomous Region, China. It is the deepest canyon in the world, and at 504.6 kilometres (313.5 mi) is slightly longer than the Grand Canyon in the United States, making it one of the world's largest. The Yarlung Tsangpo originates near Mount Kailash and runs east for about 1,700 kilometres (1,100 mi), draining a northern section of the Himalayas before it enters the gorge just downstream of Pei, Tibet, near the settlement of Zhibe. The canyon has a length of about 240 kilometres (150 mi) as the gorge bends around Mount Namcha Barwa and cuts its way through the eastern Himalayas. Its waters drop from about 2,900 metres (9,500 ft) near Pei to about 1,500 metres (4,900 ft) at the end of the Upper Gorge where the Po Tsangpo River enters. The river continues through the Lower Gorge to the Indian border at an elevation of 660 metres (2,170 ft). The river then enters Arunachal Pradesh and eventually becomes the Brahmaputra.

Green Boots is the body of an unidentified climber that became a landmark on the main Northeast ridge route of Mount Everest. There exist several theories regarding the body's identity; the most popular one claims the body belongs to Tsewang Paljor, an Indian member of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police expedition (ITBP) who died as part of the 1996 climbing disaster on the mountain wearing green Koflach mountaineering boots. All expeditions from the north side encountered the body curled in the limestone alcove cave at 8,500 m (27,900 ft) until it was moved in 2014 – likely by the China Tibet Mountaineering Association, which manages the north side of Everest.

The Zangmu Dam (藏木) is a gravity dam on the Yarlung Zangbo/Brahmaputra River 9 km (5.6 mi) northwest of Gyaca in the Tibet Autonomous Region of China. This dam is built a few kilometers from the Bhutan-India border. The purpose of the dam is hydroelectric power production using run-of-the-river technology. It is part of the Zangmu Hydropower Project and supports a 510 MW power station. Construction began in 2009 and the first generator was commissioned in November 2014. The last became operational on 13 October 2015. It is the first dam on the Brahmaputra/Yarlung Zangbo River and has caused controversy in India.

Hot Springs is a campsite and the location of an Indian border outpost in the Chang Chenmo River valley in Ladakh near the disputed border with China. It is so named because there is a hot spring at this location. The Line of Actual Control near Kongka Pass is only 3 kilometres (2 mi) to the east.

Balbala is a mountain of the Garhwal Himalaya in Uttarakhand India. It is situated in the Zanskar Range on the border between India and China. The elevation of Balbala is 6,416 metres (21,050 ft) and its prominence is 305 metres (1,001 ft). It is 100th highest located entirely within the Uttarakhand. Nanda Devi, is the highest mountain in this category. It lies 2 km east of Balbala West 6,282 metres (20,610 ft). Saraswati Parbat I 6,940 metres (22,769 ft) lies 6.5 km ENE and it is 9.6 km WNW of Chamrao Parbat I 6,910 metres (22,671 ft). It lies 6.7 km ESE of Tara Parbat 6,069 metres (19,911 ft).

Surjeet Singh Deswal also known as S S Deswal is an Indian Police Service officer of 1984 batch, who worked as the Director General of Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and retired from same post on 31 August 2021 the India's primary border guarding organization ofIndo-China International Borders, since his appointment on 31 October 2018 with additional charge of Border Security Force. He is a 1984 batch IPS officer of Haryana cadre. He previously served as the Director General of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB).

Kaurik and is a village in the Lahul and Spiti district, in Himachal Pradesh, India. It is in the valley of the Parang or Pare Chu river before its confluence with the Spiti River. Kaurik is close to the border with Tibet, the opposite village on the Tibetan side being Tsurup Sumgyi. China claims the village as part of its Zanda County, Tibet.
