It was followed by a sequel, Jackass Number Two.

Silver Mountain Resort is a ski resort in the northwest United States, located in the Silver Valley region of northern Idaho, just south of Kellogg and Interstate 90 in Shoshone County. Originally opened as "Jackass Ski Bowl" in January 1968 on Wardner Peak, it was renamed "Silverhorn" in 1973 following an ownership change. With planned improvements, most notably the gondola from the city of Kellogg and expansion on Kellogg Peak, the name was changed to "Silver Mountain" in the summer of 1989.

Jackass Mountain is a mountain in the Canadian Cascades of the Cascade Range in southwestern British Columbia, Canada, located 18 km (11 mi) southeast of Lytton and 9 km (6 mi) south of Mount Lytton. It is named for the muletrains that ventured north to the Cariboo gold fields; apparently some did not make it over the bluff and perished in a fall, hence the name. The Cariboo Road was built over this route in 1862; the hill at 1200 feet sits high above the river, and like Nicaragua Bluff in the Canyon, makes a rugged rock of granite.

Knoxville has had acting roles in films such as Men in Black II (2002), A Dirty Shame, Walking Tall (2004), The Dukes of Hazzard, The Ringer, and a cameo role as a sleazy corporate president of a skateboard company in Lords of Dogtown, The Last Stand (2013) and Skiptrace (2016). He also voiced Leonardo in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2014).

This is the last Jackass film to feature Dunn before his death in 2011.

It is the fourth film in the Jackass franchise. The film stars Johnny Knoxville and Jackson Nicoll and it was produced by MTV Films and Dickhouse Productions and distributed by Paramount Pictures. The film was released on October 25, 2013. Bad Grandpa has a loose narrative that connects the stunts and pranks together, as opposed to the three original Jackass films which did not have a story.
