Katipunan station is a planned station on the Metro Manila Subway Line 9 . Like all other Line 9 stations, the station is underground. It is the last station that is located inside Quezon City. The station is planned to be built underneath Camp Aguinaldo property, along the intersection of Katipunan Avenue and Col. Bonny Serrano Avenue. [1]

Metro Manila Subway Line 9, formerly known as the Mega Manila Subway, is an underground rapid transit line currently under construction in Metro Manila, Philippines. The 36-kilometer (22 mi) line, which will run north–south between the cities of Quezon City, Pasig, Makati, Taguig and Pasay, will serve fifteen stations between the Quirino Highway and FTI stations. It will also serve as the country's second direct airport rail link, with a branch line to Ninoy Aquino International Airport. The line is designed to connect with the other urban rail transit services in the region, including Line 1, Line 3, and Line 7 at the North Avenue Common station, which is also currently under construction; the existing Line 2 and Metro Commuter Line; and the planned Line 5 and Line 8.

Quezon City Highly Urbanized City in National Capital Region, Philippines

Quezon City is the most populous and a highly urbanized city in the Philippines. It was founded by and named after Manuel L. Quezon, the 2nd President of the Philippines, to eventually replace Manila as the national capital. The city was proclaimed as such in 1948. However, since practically all government buildings are still in Manila, many functions of national government remained there. Quezon City held the status as the official capital until 1976 when a presidential decree was issued to reinstate and designate Manila as the capital and Metro Manila as the seat of government.

Camp General Emilio Aguinaldo (CGEA) is the military headquarters of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and is located in Quezon City in the Philippines. It is located along Epifanio de los Santos Ave., in front of Camp Crame, the national headquarters of the Philippine National Police (PNP). The military base is named after the revolutionary leader, Emilio Aguinaldo who became the first Philippine President, that fought in the Philippine Revolution, the Spanish–American and the Philippine–American War.

The station should not be confused with the Line 2 Katipunan station, which is also underground but is located further north along Aurora Boulevard cor. Katipunan Avenue.

Aurora Boulevard is a four-to-ten lane major thoroughfare in Quezon City and San Juan in Metro Manila, Philippines. It was named after Doña Aurora Quezon, the consort of Commonwealth President Manuel Luis Quezon. It is one of the major roads in the commercial district of Araneta Center in Cubao. Line 2 runs over the road.

Katipunan Avenue, also called as Katip or Katips, is a major avenue in Quezon City, Metro Manila, Philippines. It runs in a north-south direction from the University of the Philippines Diliman, intersecting with Tandang Sora Avenue at its northernmost point, down to the Manila Philippines Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, intersecting with White Plains Avenue at its southernmost point.

The station is slated to open in 2025, when the line commences full operations [2] [3]

University Avenue station

University Avenue Station is an under-construction underground station of the Manila Metro Rail Transit System Line 7 and proposed station of the Manila Metro Rail Transit System Line 8 located along Commonwealth Avenue in UP Village, Quezon City, Philippines. The station itself is located within the campus of the University of the Philippines Diliman, and was named after University Avenue, the main road leading towards the university. The Line 7 system has a proposed spur line to connect itself to the Manila Line 2 at Katipunan station, passing through the University of the Philippines Diliman and Katipunan Avenue, while the Line 8 system will terminate at this station with a spur line towards its depot further inside UP Diliman.

Transportation in Metro Manila

The transportation system in Metro Manila is currently inadequate to accommodate the mobility and other basic needs of an densely populated metropolis, the result of many factors and problems that the government has failed to provide or address. Metro Manila exists in a state of near-permanent gridlock, with people and goods trapped by the very transportation system that is supposed to move them quickly and efficiently.

Manila Metro Rail Transit System

The Manila Metro Rail Transit System (MRT) is one of the two rapid transit systems serving Metro Manila in the Philippines along with the Manila Light Rail Transit System (LRTA). It originally began as a single line that was first opened in 1999 and became fully operational by the year 2000. Since then, most of the newly proposed rapid rail lines within Metro Manila that are not under the jurisdiction of the Light Rail Transit Authority is associated with the "MRT" brand. This includes the Line 9 and the elevated Line 7 which are being built as of March 2019.
