Niog station is a proposed Light Rail Transit (LRT) station which will serve as the termini of the LRT Line 1 (LRT-1) and the proposed LRT Line 6 (LRT-6). The station will be situated on the intersection of Aguinaldo Highway and Niog Road in Bacoor, Cavite. It is part of the LRT-1 South Extension Project, being the final station on the planned extension, while it shall be an intermodal terminal with the LRT-6 towards Pala-Pala station.
The LRT-6 would link the station to the city of Dasmariñas further along the Aguinaldo Highway, creating seven more stations. When built, the station will also serve as the new line's northern terminus.
Niog station was first planned as part of the Line 1 South Extension, which calls for a mostly elevated extension of approximately 11.7 kilometers (7.3 mi). The extension will have 8 passenger stations with an option for 2 future stations (Manuyo Uno and Talaba). [1] The project was first approved on August 25, 2000 and the implementing agreement for the project was approved on January 22, 2002. [2] However, construction for the extension was repeatedly delayed until the project was shelved years later.
The plans for the southern extension project were restarted as early as 2012 during the Benigno Aquino III administration and was expected to begin construction in 2014, but was delayed due to right of way issues. The issues were resolved in 2016 and the project broke ground on May 4, 2017. [3] Meanwhile, construction works on the south extension began on May 7, 2019 after the right of way acquisitions were cleared. [2]
On November 15, 2024, Phase 1 of the LRT Line 1 Extension, which runs between Redemptorist and Dr. Santos, was inaugurated; the LRMC management announced the start of its commercial operations to be on the following day. [4] [5] Meanwhile, Phases 2 and 3 will begin operations by 2031 as challenges hindered their completion with the delays in the acquisition of right of way. [6]
The closest immediate landmarks to the station are Hotel Sogo and St. Dominic College of Asia only within the intersection of Aguinaldo Highway and Bacoor Boulevard.
Bacoor, officially the City of Bacoor, is a 1st class component city in the province of Cavite, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 664,625 people, making it the 15th most populous city in the Philippines and the second largest city in the province of Cavite after Dasmariñas.
The Manila Light Rail Transit System, commonly known as the LRT, is an urban rail transit system that primarily serves Metro Manila, Philippines. Although categorized as a light rail system because it originally used light rail vehicles, it presently has characteristics of a rapid transit system, such as high passenger throughput, exclusive right-of-way, and later use of full metro rolling stock. The LRT is jointly-operated by the Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA), a government corporation attached to the Department of Transportation (DOTr), and the Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRMC). Freight transport services once operated in the country, but these services were halted. However, there are plans to restore old freight services and build new lines. From a peak of 1,100 kilometers (680 mi), the country currently has a railway footprint of 533.14 kilometers (331.28 mi), of which only 129.85 kilometers (80.69 mi) are operational as of 2024, including all the urban rail lines. World War II, natural calamities, underspending, and neglect have all contributed to the decline of the Philippine railway network. In the 2019 Global Competitiveness Report, the Philippines has the lowest efficiency score among other Asian countries in terms of efficiency of train services, receiving a score of 2.4, and ranking 86th out of 101 countries globally. The government is currently expanding the railway network up to 1,900 kilometers (1,200 mi) by 2022 through numerous projects.
The Manila–Cavite Expressway, signed as E3 of the Philippine expressway network and R-1 of Metro Manila's arterial road network, is a 14-kilometer-long (8.7 mi) controlled-access highway linking Manila to the southern province of Cavite in the Philippines. At its north end, it feeds into and from Roxas Boulevard in Parañaque, Metro Manila, also part of R-1. At the south end, it splits into two termini along the north coast in Kawit, Cavite. The first feeds into the intersection of Covelandia Road, Tirona Highway and Antero Soriano Highway. The second southern terminus is an exit-only to Tirona Highway in Barangay Marulas.
EDSA station is an elevated Light Rail Transit (LRT) station located on the LRT Line 1 (LRT-1) system in Pasay. The station is situated on the intersection of Taft Avenue and Epifanio de los Santos Avenue, better known as EDSA, one of Metro Manila's major thoroughfares. The station and the avenue are both named after Epifanio de los Santos, a noted historian.

Originally referred to as Metrorail and the Yellow Line, LRT Line 1 was reclassified to be the Green Line in 2012. It travels in a general north–south direction from Dr. Santos to Monumento, and then east–west from Monumento to Fernando Poe Jr. Currently, the line consists of 25 stations and runs on 25.9 kilometers of fully elevated route. Although it has the characteristics of light rail, such as with the type of rolling stock used, it is more akin to a rapid transit system owing to its total grade separation and high passenger throughput.
MIA station, also known as MIA Road station, is an elevated Light Rail Transit (LRT) station located on the LRT Line 1 (LRT-1) system in Parañaque. It is part of the Line 1 Cavite Extension Project, which opened to the public on November 16, 2024. Situated at the intersection of Roxas Boulevard and Seaside Drive, which is the physical continuation of the adjacent NAIA Road, it serves Barangay Tambo and Entertainment City.
Redemptorist station, also known as Redemptorist–Aseana station or Aseana station, is an elevated Light Rail Transit (LRT) station located on the LRT Line 1 (LRT-1) system in Parañaque. It is part of the Line 1 Cavite Extension Project, which opened to the public on November 16, 2024. It is built in Aseana City in Barangay Baclaran and is named after the adjacent Redemptorist Road, which is in turn apparently named after the Redemptorist Church or the Redemptorists.
Zapote station is a proposed Light Rail Transit (LRT) station located on the LRT Line 1 (LRT-1) system in Bacoor, Cavite. It will be situated at the line's Zapote Satellite Depot. It differs from other LRT-1 stations in that it will be constructed at grade. It is part of the LRT-1 South Extension Project. It would be the first LRT-1 station outside Metro Manila.
Dr. Santos station, also known as Sucat station, Dr. Santos station, or Dr. Santos Avenue station, is an elevated Light Rail Transit (LRT) station located on the LRT Line 1 (LRT-1) system in Parañaque. The station is part of the Line 1 Cavite Extension Project, which opened to the public on November 16, 2024. It is situated in between Dr. Santos Avenue, CAVITEX–C-5 Link and C-5 Extension, a few hundred meters behind SM City Sucat. Both the station and Dr. Santos Avenue are named after former Rizal Governor Arcadio Santos, a native of the present-day city that was part of the province. It is the current southern terminus of the line.
Asia World station, also known as PITX station, is a Light Rail Transit (LRT) station located on the LRT Line 1 (LRT-1) system in Parañaque. Named after the nearby Asiaworld district where it is situated, it is part of the LRT-1 Cavite Extension Project. It is situated between the Manila–Cavite Expressway (CAVITEX) and Kennedy Road. It is interconnected with the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX).
The Emilio Aguinaldo Highway,, alternatively known as Cavite–Batangas Road and Cavite-Manila South Road, is a four-to-six lane, 41.4-kilometer (25.7 mi), network of primary and secondary highways passing through the busiest towns and cities of Cavite, Philippines. It is the busiest and most congested of the three major highways located in the province, the others are Governor's Drive and Antero Soriano Highway.
Las Piñas station is a proposed Light Rail Transit (LRT) station located on the LRT Line 1 (LRT-1) system in Las Piñas. It is part of the LRT-1 South Extension Project. It is one of two proposed LRT-1 stations in Las Piñas, the other being Manuyo Uno.

It is a consortium of companies engaged in the operation and maintenance of the Manila Light Rail Transit System Line 1 since September 2015. The consortium is composed of Metro Pacific Investments Corporation and Sumitomo Corporation's Metro Pacific Light Rail Corp. (MPLRC); AC Infrastructure Holdings Corp. ; and Macquarie Infrastructure Holdings (Philippines) Pte. Ltd.
Ninoy Aquino station, also known as Ninoy Aquino Avenue station, is an elevated Light Rail Transit (LRT) station located on the LRT Line 1 (LRT-1) system in Santo Niño, Parañaque. It is part of the LRT-1 Cavite Extension Project. The station is built above Ninoy Aquino Avenue, which is named after former Senator Ninoy Aquino, who was assassinated at the nearby airport in 1983, and is located on the east bank of the Parañaque River.
