Overview

Katol (constituency number 48) is one of the 12 Vidhan Sabha constituencies located in the Nagpur district. [1] It covers the entire Narkhed and Katol talukas and part of Nagpur (Rural) taluka. Number of electorates was 245,811 in 2009 (male 128,076, female 117,735). [2]

Katol is part of the Ramtek Lok Sabha constituency along with five other Vidhan Sabha segments of this district, namely Savner, Hingna, Umred, Kamthi and Ramtek. [1] In the 2014 Maharashtra Assembly Election the candidates listed below were standing in this assembly seat:-

Sawanga is a village located 87 kilometre west of Nagpur in the Nagpur district and in the Narkhed Taluka of Vidarbha region in Maharashtra, India. It is 810 kilometres (500 mi) from Mumbai. Lohari Sawanga is bordered by Karanja Ghadge Taluka to the South, Warud Taluka to the west, Katol Taluka to the east, and Pandhurna Taluka of Madhya Pradesh to the north. The primary language of the village is Marathi. The closest railway station are Mowad Railway Station, Katol railway station and Narkher Junction railway station. State Highway 245 of Maharashtra passes from Lohari Sawanga.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Ashish Deshmukh</span> Indian politician

Dr. Ashish Ranjeet Deshmukh is the member of the 15th Maharashtra Legislative Assembly. He is representing the Savner Assembly Constituency. He rejoined Bharatiya Janata Party in 2023. Deshmukh is the son of former president of Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee and former Maharashtra minister Ranjeet Deshmukh. In December 2013, Deshmukh had undertaken an indefinite fast to press for formation of a separate Vidarbha state.
