Kattanam [1] is a village located in Central Travancore, Alappuzha district in the Indian state of Kerala, in the southern part of the country, 2,200 km south of the capital New Delhi. [2] Kattanam is about 7 Km east of Kayamkulam, 10 Km South of Mavelikkara and 22 Km West of Adoor. Kattanam is located about 15 metres above sea level. Kattanam Junction is one of the main Junctions in the SH - 5 (Kayamkulam - Punalur Road). Kattanam celebrates a lot of Cultural, Religious and Non-Religious festivals and programmes every year.

Chunakkara mahadevar temple, also located 4 Km from Charummood, is famous for sarvam swayambhoo deity and its festival is the first main festival of the Onattukara area. Padanilam Parabrahma Temple, which is famous for its Sivarathri festival, is about 5 kilometers from Charummood.

Olakettiambalam is a small village situated in the southern part of Alappuzha district, six kilometers south of Mavelikkara and six kilometers from Kayamkulam at latitude 9.27426 north and longitude 76.5061 east. It is famous for temples and it was named after that. This place belongs to Onattukara.

The Madhya Kerala Diocese is one of the twenty-four dioceses of the Church of South India covering the central part of Kerala. When the Church of South India was formed on 27 September 1947, the diocese was called the Diocese of Central Travancore. It was a part of the erstwhile Anglican Diocese of Travancore and Cochin founded in 1879. The Diocese was later renamed as the Diocese of Madhya Kerala.
