The Karnataka Legislative Assembly is the lower house of the bicameral legislature of the southern Indian state of Karnataka. Karnataka is one of the six states in India where the state legislature is bicameral,comprising two houses:the Vidhan Sabha and the Vidhan Parishad .
Chandrashekhara Basavanneppa Kambara is a prominent Indian poet,playwright,folklorist,film director in Kannada language and the founder-vice-chancellor of Kannada University in Hampi also president of the Sahitya Akademi,country's premier literary institution,after Vinayak Krishna Gokak (1983) and U.R. Ananthamurthy (1993). He is known for effective adaptation of the North Karnataka dialect of the Kannada language in his plays,and poems,in a similar style as in the works of D.R. Bendre.
Kodman Nagappa Alva was an Indian physician and politician from the State of Karnataka. As a politician,he served as Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha,the upper House of the Parliament of India,and as Minister of Health and Family Planning in the Government of Karnataka,then known as Mysore State. He was also prominent medical practitioner in his hometown of Mangalore. His biography with an eponymous title was published in 2010,written by Raghu Shettigar.
Sarojini Bindurao Mahishi was an Indian teacher,lawyer,activist and politician. She was the first woman Member of Parliament from the State of Karnataka,who represented the constituency Dharwad North for four terms between 1962 and 1980. In 1983 she was elected to the Rajya Sabha as member of the Janata Party.
Dr. D. R. Nagaraj was an Indian cultural critic,political commentator and an expert on medieval and modern Kannada poetry and Dalit movement who wrote in Kannada and English languages. He won Sahitya Akademi Award for his work Sahitya Kathana. He started out as a Marxist critic but renounced the Marxist framework that he had used in the book Amruta mattu Garuda as too reductionist and became a much more eclectic and complex thinker. He is among the few Indian thinkers to shed new light on Dalit and Bahujan politics. He regarded the Gandhi-Ambedkar debate on the issue of caste system and untouchability as the most important contemporary debate whose outcome would determine the fate of India in the 21st century.
Balaji Tangali Lalitha Naik is an Indian social activist,politician,writer,film actress who was the minister of Kannada,Culture,and Department of Women &Child Welfare of Karnataka. Naik has also served as an MLC (1986-1992) and MLA (1994-1999). She won the Karnataka Sahitya Academy Award in 1991. She is also known for leading important literary,social and language-rights movements such as Bandaya movement and Gokak agitation.
Kuppur Yalappa Narayanaswamy,also known as KYN,is a popular Kannada poet,scholar,critic,and playwright. He is currently a Kannada professor in the Maharani Cluster University,Bangalore. He is the author of many popular Kannada plays including Kalavu,Anabhigna Shakuntala,Chakraratna,Huliseere, and Vinura Vema. He has also translated Kuvempu's Shudra Tapaswi into Telugu. He is credited with adapting Kuvempu's magnum opus Malegalalli madumagalu into a 9-hour play. He has also written the screenplay for the films Kalavu and Suryakaanti.
Aravind Malagatti is a prominent Indian poet and writer in Kannada-language. He is the author of more than forty books which include poetry collections,short fiction collections,a novel,essay-collections,critical works and folklore studies. He is the recipient of the prestigious Ambedkar Fellowship Award from the Government of Karnataka. His Government Brahamana,the first Dalit autobiography in Kannada,has won the Karnataka Sahitya Academy Award. Apart from these,the Honorary Award of Karnataka Sahitya Academy was conferred on him for his total contribution to Kannada literature. He is appointed as Chairman for Kannada Sahitya Academy.
Syed Naseer Hussain is an Indian politician of Indian National Congress and a Member of the upper house of the Indian Parliament,the Rajya Sabha,from the state of Karnataka. He served as National Media Panelist (AICC) for the past three years. He also served as National Secretary and Chief Election Authority of Indian Youth Congress. He also served as the Chairman of various committees;Vice-Chairman,two labour boards and Chairman,two sub- committees,Government of India. He is from Bellary. He appointed as member of CWC in Congress. Currently,Hussain serves on the Congress Working Committee as a full time Member and is responsible for managing the office of the Indian National Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge.

Nanjaiah Mahesh is an Indian politician member of the Bharatiya Janata Party from 5 August 2021. He was Minister of State for Primary and Secondary Education of Karnataka in the H. D. Kumaraswamy cabinet,but resigned on 11 October 2018 citing personal reasons. He won the 2018 assembly elections from the Kollegal constituency.

Chandrashekhar Sangashetty Patil was an Indian freedom fighter and politician who served as Member of the Legislative Assembly who belonged to the Indian National Congress. Chandrashekhar Patil was born to Sangasetti Patil and Veeramma Patil in Mahagaon,Gulbarga on 25 January 1918. On 22 December 1960 he died in a motor vehicle accident. He was known for having participated in India's freedom struggle and the Liberation of Hyderabad Karnataka. Various books have been written on him,including Tiger of Hyderabad Karnataka Chandrashekhar Patil Mahagaon and ಪ್ರತಿಭಾವಂತಸಂಸದೀಯಪಟುಪುಸ್ತಕಮೂಲಿಕೆ.
Abdul Rasheed is an Indian writer,poet,editor and translator from Karnataka. In 2004 he won Sahitya Akademi Golden Jubilee Award for lifetime achievement. He also a translator,blogger,columnist and radio personality.
