List of United States Navy airfields

This is a list of airfields operated by the United States Navy which are located within the United States and abroad. The US Navy's main airfields are designated as Naval Air Stations or Naval Air Facilities, with Naval Outlying Landing Fields (NOLF) and Naval Auxiliary Landing Fields (NALF) having a support role.

Contents

Some airfields are parented by a larger naval installation or are part of a Joint Base operated jointly with another part of the US military.

Outlying and auxiliary landing fields

A navaloutlying landing field (NOLF) or naval auxiliary landing field (NALF) is an auxiliary airfield with no based units or aircraft, and minimal facilities. They are used as a low-traffic locations for flight training, without the risks and distractions of other traffic at naval air stations or other large airfields.

Lakehurst Maxfield Field, formerly known as Naval Air Engineering Station Lakehurst, is the naval component of Joint Base McGuire–Dix–Lakehurst, a United States Air Force-managed joint base headquartered approximately 25 mi (40 km) east-southeast of Trenton in Manchester Township and Jackson Township in Ocean County, New Jersey, United States. It is primarily the home to Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division Lakehurst, although the airfield supports several other flying and non-flying units as well. Its name is an amalgamation of its location and the last name of Commander Louis H. Maxfield, who lost his life when the R-38/USN ZR-2 airship crashed during flight on 24 August 1921 near Hull, England.

Marine Corps Air Station Kaneohe Bay or MCAS Kaneohe Bay is a United States Marine Corps (USMC) airfield located within the Marine Corps Base Hawaii complex, formerly known as Marine Corps Air Facility (MCAF) Kaneohe Bay or Naval Air Station (NAS) Kaneohe Bay. It is located two miles northeast of the central business district of Kaneohe, in Honolulu County, Hawaii, United States. The airfield has one runway (4/22) with a 7,771 x 200 ft asphalt surface.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Brewton Municipal Airport</span> Airport

Brewton Municipal Airport is a city-owned public-use airport located 3 nautical miles (6 km) south of the central business district of Brewton, a city in Escambia County, Alabama, United States. Originally constructed by the U.S. Navy during World War II as an auxiliary field to the Naval Air Station Pensacola complex, it was later redesignated as Navy Outlying Landing Field (NOLF) Brewton before being conveyed to the city of Brewton as a public use facility. Although under civilian ownership, the airfield still functions concurrently as NOLF Brewton and is used by Navy training aircraft located at Naval Air Station Whiting Field, Florida.

Valkaria Airport is a public-use airport located 1 mile (1.6 km) west of the central business district of the city of Grant-Valkaria in Brevard County, Florida, United States. The airport is publicly owned.

Naval Outlying Landing Field (NOLF) Santa Rosa is a military use airport located five nautical miles (9 km) southeast of the central business district of Milton, in Santa Rosa County, Florida, United States. It is owned by the United States Navy and has four asphalt paved runways all of which are 4,500 by 150 feet. The airfield is under the control of Commander, Training Air Wing FIVE at NAS Whiting Field, Florida.

Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point or MCAS Cherry Point is a United States Marine Corps airfield located in Havelock, North Carolina, United States, in the eastern part of the state. It was built in 1941, and was commissioned in 1942 and is currently home to the 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing.

Naval Outlying Landing Field Barin is a United States Navy airfield located in Foley, a city in Baldwin County, Alabama, United States.

Naval Outlying Field Goliad is a military airport located five nautical miles north of the central business district of Berclair, Texas, in Goliad County. It is owned by the United States Navy. The airfield has two runways, both 8000 feet long by 150 feet wide. Its mission is to support operations of the Naval Air Training Command, specifically Commander, Training Air Wing FOUR located aboard Naval Air Station Corpus Christi. It is under the control of Commander, Navy Region Southeast.
