The minister of asylum and migration (Dutch : Minister van Asiel en Migratie) is the head of the Ministry of Asylum and Migration and a member of the cabinet of the Netherlands and the Council of Ministers. [1] The current minister is Marjolein Faber of the Party for Freedom (PVV), who has been in office since 2 July 2024.

The Ministry of Justice and Security is the Dutch ministry responsible for justice, imprisonment and public security. The ministry was created in 1798 as the Department of Justice, before it became in 1876 the Ministry of Justice. In 2010, it took over the public safety duties from the Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations and became Ministry of Security and Justice. In 2017 the ministry was renamed to Ministry of Justice and Security. The ministry is headed by the Minister of Justice and Security, Dilan Yeṣilgöz-Zegerius (VVD) since 10 January 2022.

There is a small population of Angolans in the Netherlands numbering around 10,000 people, largely consisting of refugees from the Angolan Civil War.

Gideon "Gidi" Markuszower is an Israeli–Dutch politician of the Party for Freedom (PVV). He became a member of the Netherlands Senate on 9 June 2015. He was fourth on the Party for Freedom list in the 2023 Dutch general election, and therefore continued his term as a member of the House of Representatives.

Hendrikus Wilhelmus Maria "Dick" Schoof is a Dutch civil servant serving as prime minister of the Netherlands after being nominated during the 2023–2024 Dutch cabinet formation. He previously served as secretary-general of the Ministry of Justice and Security from 2020 to 2024, as National Coordinator for Security and Counterterrorism from 2013 to 2018, and director-general of the General Intelligence and Security Service from 2018 to 2020. On 2 July 2024, Schoof was sworn in as prime minister of the Netherlands in the Schoof Cabinet, succeeding Mark Rutte.

Dilan Yeşilgöz-Zegerius is a Dutch politician who served as Leader of the People's Party for Freedom and Democracy since 2023. She also served as minister of justice and security in the fourth Rutte cabinet from 10 January 2022 to 2 July 2024. Yeşilgöz previously served as a member of the House of Representatives from 2017 to 2021 and as State Secretary for Economic Affairs and Climate Policy from 2021 until 2022.

Van der Burg previously had a lengthy political career in the municipality of Amsterdam which culminated in his brief service as ad interim Mayor of Amsterdam in 2017.

Anne-Marijke Podt is a Dutch politician of the social liberal party Democrats 66 (D66), who has been serving as a member of the House of Representatives since September 2021. She had previously been a member of the Utrecht municipal council starting in 2014, and she has worked as an aid worker and as an independent adviser for municipalities.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Fourth Rutte cabinet</span> 71st cabinet of the Netherlands

The fourth Rutte cabinet was the cabinet of the Netherlands from 10 January 2022 until 2 July 2024. The cabinet was a continuation of the third Rutte cabinet and was formed by the conservative liberal People's Party for Freedom and Democracy (VVD), the social liberal Democrats 66 (D66) and the Christian democratic Christian Democratic Appeal (CDA) and Christian Union (CU) after the election of 2021. The cabinet fell on 7 July 2023, after failing to reach an agreement on separate treatment of refugees fleeing from war. It continued serving as a demissionary cabinet until the Schoof cabinet was sworn in on 2 July 2024.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Rwanda asylum plan</span> British immigration policy

The UK and Rwanda Migration and Economic Development Partnership was an immigration policy first proposed by the British government in April 2022 whereby people whom the United Kingdom identified as illegal immigrants or asylum seekers would have been relocated to Rwanda for processing, asylum and resettlement. Those who were successful in claiming asylum would have remained in Rwanda, and they would not have been permitted to return to the United Kingdom.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Schoof cabinet</span> 72nd cabinet of the Netherlands

The Schoof cabinet is the cabinet of the Netherlands, sworn in on 2 July 2024. Led by independent politician and civil servant Dick Schoof as prime minister of the Netherlands, the cabinet was formed by the Party for Freedom (PVV), the People's Party for Freedom and Democracy (VVD), the New Social Contract (NSC) and the Farmer–Citizen Movement (BBB) after the 2023 Dutch general election.
