Tactical role-playing games, also known as strategy role-playing games and in Japan as simulation RPGs, are a video game genre that combines core elements of role-playing video games with those of tactical strategy video games. The formats of tactical RPGs are much like traditional tabletop role-playing games and strategy games in appearance, pacing, and rule structure. Likewise, early tabletop role-playing games are descended from skirmish wargames such as Chainmail, which were primarily concerned with combat.
Tear Ring Saga: Chronicles of War Hero Yutona is a tactical role-playing game developed by Tirnanog, a development studio started by Shouzou Kaga, the creator of the Fire Emblem series, after he left Nintendo’s Intelligent Systems development team in 1999. The game featured a complicated development and initial release period, with the company receiving legal pressure multiple times from Nintendo, who felt that the game's very similar gameplay and presentation, which also featured the art of Fire Emblem: Thracia 776 artist Mayumi Hirota, infringed on their copyrights on their Fire Emblem intellectual property. Direct ties to Fire Emblem were dropped, and its original title, Emblem Saga, was changed to its final title as to not sound so similar to Fire Emblem, and the game was released in Japan on May 24, 2001, by Enterbrain, for Nintendo's competitor, Sony, on their PlayStation console. Three months after release, Nintendo took them to court over the game, and while Enterbrain was ordered to pay a fee, they ultimately retained the right to sell the game.
Prinnies are a fictional race of creatures primarily in Nippon Ichi's Disgaea series of role-playing games. First appearing in Disgaea: Hour of Darkness, they have appeared in all later titles by the company, as well as on various merchandise such as hats and plush toys. With a few notable exceptions, they are voiced by Junji Majima in Japanese releases and Grant George in the English releases from Disgaea: Hour of Darkness to Disgaea 4: A Promise Unforgotten. The Prinnies are regarded as the mascots for the Disgaea series and have received generally positive reception.
Mastiff LLC is an American video game publisher. Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rift is a tactical role-playing game developed and published by Square Enix for the Nintendo DS handheld game console. Releasing in 2007 in Japan and 2008 in the West, the game is a sequel to Final Fantasy Tactics Advance and forms part of the Ivalice Alliance, a group of games set in the titular fictional universe. The game features cameo appearances from central and supporting characters from Final Fantasy XII, a title set in Ivalice.
Strategy is a major video game genre that emphasizes thinking and planning over direct instant action in order to achieve victory. Although many types of video games can contain strategic elements, as a genre, strategy games are most commonly defined as those with a primary focus on high-level strategy, logistics and resource management. They are also usually divided into two main sub-categories: turn-based and real-time, but there are also many strategy cross/sub-genres that feature additional elements such as tactics, diplomacy, economics and exploration.

Fire Emblem is the seventh game of the series, however it is the first one to be released in North America. The Fire Emlbem series began in Japan in 1990 and is regarded as one of, if not the best TRPG series. It's an epic tactical RPG that'll have you building an army of gladiators one axe swing at a time.
But let it be said that there's nothing terrible about Onimushia Tactics, as it's a fun, if somewhat straightforward tactical RPG strategy game. But when compared to games like FFTA and Tactics Ogre, this game falls just a little flat with a much more "vanilla" design that does nothing to establish itself beyond what's already been done.
Pegasus Knights! Myrmidons! Summoners! The new Fire Emblem: Sacred Stones is absorbing tactical RPG that challenges Advance Wars and Final Fantasy Tactics.

Shining Force was once big man on the tactical RPG campus. Will its return make the grade, or are the passing requirements just a little too strict after all these years?
Tactical role-playing is one of those genres I've been playing a lot in the last few years. For some reason, though, I haven't tired of it like I have military first-person shooters or Baldur's Gate-style action-RPGs. ... On the battlefield, any experienced tactical-RPG player will feel right at home. Most of my favorite gameplay aspects show up. I relish the ability to position my character and then say, "Screw it, that's not what I want to do," and it's easy to do here -- provided you haven't done anything major like used an item or launched an attack.
