Macau is a city of tourism with a multicultural blend which provides a broad sense and international perspective for its college students. The free academic atmosphere and its profound and unique foundation in culture have also created favorable conditions for higher education. Most of the curricula, teachers and the general quality of teaching have reached an internationally accepted level.

Mainly English or Chinese (or both) are the languages of instruction in universities; some courses or programs are conducted in Portuguese.

The following is a list of universities, polytechnics and other advanced level (higher) education and research institutions in Macau.

Education in Oman is provided free of charge up to end of secondary education, though attendance is not mandatory at any level. In 1970 there were only three formal schools with 900 students in the whole state. Oman's national educational program expanded rapidly during the 1970s and the 1980s, with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia sending teachers on its own expense during that time period. In 2006–2007 about 560,000 students attended 1053 public schools. The number of students in private schools is about 65,000. There are also extensive programmes to combat adult illiteracy. Sultan Qaboos University, the only national university near Muscat, was founded in 1986, and in 2006 it had 13,500 students. The Human Development Report found the literacy rate to be 93.0% in adults, up from 54.7% in 1990. For the same period, the youth literacy rate increased from 85.6 to 97.3%. Public expenditure on education was reported to be 4.6% of GDP and 26.1% of total government spending.

The history of Catholic church in Macau can traced back to 1576 under the leadership of the Pope. Catholic church in Macau was built not only with the purpose of prayers and atonement but also as rally point for Portuguese to gather up and act as a midway for missionaries going to deeper part of China and south east Asia. The Catholic church within Macau has played an important role on the spread of Catholicism in Japan, Vietnam and China and other parts of south east Asia. The Catholic church in Macau has provided schooling, missionary training and preaching the gospel to the local catholic and non-catholic communities. There are around 30,000 Catholics in Macau, which forms a single diocese, the Diocese of Macau. The current bishop of Macau is Stephen Lee Bun-sang.

The Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) is a nonprofit association of educational institutions. It serves professionals in the field of educational advancement. This field encompasses alumni relations, communications, marketing and development (fundraising) for educational institutions such as universities and independent or private schools.

Provision of education in the UAE began shortly after the establishment of the federation with the inception of the first university in Al Ain, Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates University. Since then, the country has progressed with efforts of ensuring high literacy rates, modern programs and women's share in education. It works on improving its youths education which is why the agenda 2021 has been set. The UAE currently devotes approximately 25 percent of total federal government spending to education. As of 2019, the overall literacy rate is 96%.

Peruvian Union University is a Seventh-day Adventist university in Lima, Peru. It is the second largest of ten Adventist universities in South America. Its acronym is "UPeU". It is a part of the Seventh-day Adventist education system, the world's second largest Christian school system. Founded in 1919 as part of the Industrial College in Miraflores, Lima, it was the first higher education facility started by Seventh-day Adventists in Peru.
