These streets run parallel to each other, roughly east–west.

Streets change from west to east (for instance West 1st Street to East 1st Street) at Main Street.

Many of the elementary schools in South Los Angeles bear names of numbered streets.

44th Street

44th Street has been renamed Vernon Avenue, and is served by Metro Local: line 105. Two Metro Rail stations:

58th Street

West of Western Avenue, Slauson Avenue takes the place of 58th Street.

63rd Street

63rd Street east of Van Ness Avenue is named Gage Avenue, where it is an east-west thoroughfare. Gage Avenue terminates at Slauson Avenue in Commerce.

72nd Street

79th Street

79th Street has been renamed Nadeau Street east of Central Avenue.

86th Street

see Manchester Avenue, and Firestone Boulevard.

96th Street

This street is a secondary street in South Los Angeles. Portions of it are renamed "Colden Avenue". It is also the site of the future LAX People Mover and LAX/Metro Transit Center station on Aviation Boulevard and 96th Street.

98th Street

98th Street is notable for being bisected by Jesse Owens Memorial Park for most of its length.

100th Street

100th Street runs between Central Avenue and Compton Avenue. Most of Century Boulevard takes the place of 100th Street with the exception of the aforementioned short "numbered" street.

103rd Street

108th Street

108th Street is a major street in South Los Angeles, and was formerly served by Line 119

120th Street

120th Street is a major street in Hawthorne, Athens, Harbor Gateway, and Willowbrook. It runs from Aviation Boulevard to Van Ness Avenue, and then from Western Avenue to Wilmington Avenue. It is served by portions of Line 53, and was formerly served by Lines 126, 207 and 357. Between at the junction with Crenshaw Boulevard, the Dominguez Channel storm drain crosses underneath. Between Crenshaw Boulevard and Prairie Avenue the Hawthorne Municipal Airport is to the south, and the Boring Test Tunnel runs underneath the road.

128th Street

128th Street has been renamed El Segundo Boulevard.

135th Street

135th Street is a major street in Hawthorne, Gardena, Harbor Gateway, and Rosewood; it runs from Aviation Boulevard to McKinley Avenue. 135th Street turns into Sam Littleton Street in Compton(at McKinley Avenue) before changing back into 135th Street at Central Avenue. However, it is signed as W Stockwell Street. It was previously served by portions of Line 209.

143rd Street

143rd Street has been renamed Rosecrans Avenue. One J Line station:

151st Street

151st Street has been renamed Compton Boulevard/Somerset Boulevard in the east and Marine Avenue in the west. Compton Boulevard/Somerset Boulevard carries Metro Local line 127. Marine Avenue carries portions of Metro Local line 215. Two Metro Rail stations:

158th Street

158th Street has been renamed Manhattan Beach Boulevard.

161st Street

161st Street has been renamed Alondra Boulevard east of Vermont Avenue and it is served by Metro Local lines 128 and 460.

174th Street

174th Street has been renamed Artesia Boulevard. One Metro A Line station:

203rd Street

203rd Street has been renamed Del Amo Boulevard. One Metro A Line station:

217th Street

217th Street has been renamed Carson Street. Carson Street becomes Lincoln Avenue approximately 1.5 miles (2.4 km) east of Interstate 605 upon entering the city of Cypress and Orange County. Once east of State Route 55 in the city of Orange, Lincoln becomes Nohl Ranch Road. One J Line station:

223rd Street

223rd Street is a major street in Carson and Harbor Gateway. It runs from Western Avenue to Alameda Street, where it becomes Wardlow Road upon entrance to Long Beach. One Metro A Line station:

250th Street

250th Street, a major residential street in the city of Lomita, becomes Lomita Boulevard just east of Walnut Street. It is served by Torrance Transit line 9.

266th Street

266th Street is the highest numbered street in the system just one block north of Palos Verdes Drive North.

State Route 47 is a state highway in the U.S. state of California, connecting Terminal Island to the mainland in the Los Angeles area. From its south end at I-110 in San Pedro, it heads east across the Vincent Thomas Bridge to the island and the end of state maintenance. The state highway begins again at the junction with I-710 on Terminal Island, crossing the Schuyler Heim Bridge north to the mainland and the second terminus, where SR 103 begins. Signage continues along a locally maintained route, mainly Alameda Street, to the Gardena Freeway in Compton, and an unconstructed alignment follows the same corridor to the Santa Monica Freeway (I-10) near downtown Los Angeles.

Figueroa Street is a major north-south street in Los Angeles County, California, spanning from the Los Angeles neighborhood of Wilmington north to Eagle Rock. A short, unconnected continuation of Figueroa Street runs just south of Marengo Drive in Glendale to Chevy Chase Drive in La Cañada Flintridge.

The Imperial Highway is a west-east thoroughfare in the counties of Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Diego, and Imperial in the U.S. state of California. The main portion of the existing route begins at Vista Del Mar in Los Angeles near the Los Angeles International Airport and ends at the Anaheim–Orange city line at Via Escola where it becomes Cannon Street. Historically, the Imperial Highway extended from Vista Del Mar to Calexico, where a portion of the highway still exists. The original route was replaced with other highways, leading the older portions of the Imperial Highway to fall out of use.

Slauson Avenue is a major east–west thoroughfare traversing the central part of Los Angeles County, California. It was named for the land developer and Los Angeles Board of Education member J. S. Slauson. It passes through Culver City, Ladera Heights, View Park-Windsor Hills, South Los Angeles, Huntington Park, Maywood, Commerce, Montebello, Pico Rivera, Whittier, and Santa Fe Springs. The street runs 20.9 miles (33.6 km) from McDonald Street in Culver City and to Santa Fe Springs Road, where it becomes Mulberry Drive in Whittier. Mulberry Drive ends at Scott Avenue in South Whittier.

Alameda Street is a major north-south thoroughfare in Los Angeles County, California. It is approximately 21 miles in length, running from Harry Bridges Boulevard in Wilmington; and through Carson, Compton, Lynwood, Watts, Florence-Graham, Huntington Park, Vernon and Arts District to Spring and College in Chinatown. For much of its length, Alameda runs through present and former industrial corridors, and is paralleled by Union Pacific Railroad tracks.

Rosecrans Avenue is a major west-east thoroughfare in Los Angeles and Orange Counties, California, USA. It has a total length of 27.5 miles (44.3 km). The street is named after U.S. Union General William S. Rosecrans, who purchased 13,000 acres (5,300 ha) of Rancho Sausal Redondo southwest of Los Angeles in 1869. Rosecrans Avenue was originally named Drexel Avenue, and ran through the Rosecrans Rancho which is part of modern-day Gardena.

El Segundo Boulevard is a west-east thoroughfare in Los Angeles County. It has a total length of 11.9 miles (19.2 km). At one time, it was named Ballona Avenue.

Dominguez Channel is a 15.7-mile-long (25.3 km) stream in southern Los Angeles County, California, in the center of the Dominguez Watershed of 133 square miles (340 km2).

The Long Beach Line was a major interurban railway operated by the Pacific Electric Railway between Los Angeles and Long Beach, California via Florence, Watts, and Compton. Service began in 1902 and lasted until 1961, the last line of the system to be replaced by buses.

The Southeast Gateway Line is a planned light rail line, mostly following the Pacific Electric's historic West Santa Ana Branch, connecting Downtown Los Angeles to the city of Artesia, along with other cities in southeastern Los Angeles County.
