Lake Huron is one of the five Great Lakes of North America. Hydrologically, it comprises the easterly portion of Lake Michigan–Huron, having the same surface elevation as Lake Michigan, to which it is connected by the 5-mile-wide (8.0 km), 20-fathom-deep Straits of Mackinac. It is shared on the north and east by the Canadian province of Ontario and on the south and west by the U.S. state of Michigan. The name of the lake is derived from early French explorers who named it for the Huron people inhabiting the region.

Northeastern Manitoulin and the Islands is a municipality with town status in Manitoulin District in Northeastern Ontario, Canada, approximately 30 kilometres (19 mi) south of Espanola. Its main town is Little Current, located on the northeast side of Manitoulin Island. The river falls over a limestone bluff at Bridal Veil Falls. "Kagawong" means "mists rising from falling water" in the Ojibwe language.

Cockburn Island is an island and township municipality in the Canadian province of Ontario, located in the Manitoulin District. It is separated from the westernmost point of Manitoulin Island by the Mississagi Strait, and from Michigan's Drummond Island by the False Detour Channel. The island is incorporated as and coterminous with the municipal Township of Cockburn Island.

The Great Lakes-St. Lawrence Lowlands, or simply St. Lawrence Lowlands, is a physiographic region of Eastern Canada that comprises a section of southern Ontario bounded on the north by the Canadian Shield and by 3 of the Great Lakes — Lake Huron, Lake Erie and Lake Ontario — and extends along the St. Lawrence River to the Strait of Belle Isle and the Atlantic Ocean. The lowlands comprise three sub-regions that were created by intrusions from adjacent physiographic regions — the West Lowland, Central Lowland and East Lowland. The West Lowland includes the Niagara Escarpment, extending from the Niagara River to the Bruce Peninsula and Manitoulin Island. The Central Lowland stretches between the Ottawa River and the St. Lawrence River. The East Lowland includes Anticosti Island, Îles de Mingan, and extends to the Strait of Belle Isle.

Mississagi River Provincial Park is a protected area on the Mississagi River in Algoma and Sudbury Districts, Ontario, Canada. It has an Ontario Parks designation of Waterway Class. The park encompasses the river and lakes on the river from Mississagi Lake to Bark Lake, and further downstream to a point just above Ricky Island Lake, as well as portions of the upper Spanish River system.
Mississagi Island is an island in the North Channel of Lake Huron in Algoma District, Ontario, Canada, about 6.3 kilometres (3.9 mi) south of the mouth of the Mississagi River and 9.0 kilometres (5.6 mi) southwest of the community of Blind River. The island is about 1.4 kilometres (0.9 mi) long by 0.8 kilometres (0.5 mi) wide. A rocky ledge extending from North Point forms the north end, while Dog Point is the northeastern tip. The island is forested, and has two small ponds. There was a lighthouse on the island from 1884 until 1948 when it burned down.

Nameless Lake is a small, spring-fed endorheic lake on Manitoulin Island in Lake Huron approximately 8.5 kilometres (5.3 mi) south of the town of Gore Bay in the municipality of Gordon/Barrie Island, Manitoulin District in Northeastern Ontario, Canada. It is approximately 2 kilometres (1 mi) long and over 15 metres (49 ft) deep in some locations, with no public access. It is the only lake on Manitoulin Island that prohibits all gasoline-powered craft.
The St. Joseph Channel is a strait in Algoma District, Northwestern Ontario, Canada and Chippewa County, Michigan, United States. It is in the Great Lakes Basin and connects the St. Marys River flowing through the Middle Neebish Channel between Neebish Island and Sugar Island at the northwest and Lake George/ East Neebish Channel between Sugar Island and the Ontario mainland at the north, with the North Channel between St. Joseph Island and the Ontario mainland at the east, and with the Munuscong Channel between Neebish Island and St. Joseph Island at the southwest. All of these waterbody elements are part of Lake Huron.
