Prentiss is an unorganized territory (township) in Penobscot County, Maine, United States. The township was named for Henry Prentiss, an early landowner. [1] The population was 169 at the 2020 census. [2]

As of the census [4] of 2000, there were 214 people, 82 households, and 61 families living in the unorganized territory. The population density was 5.6 inhabitants per square mile (2.2/km2). There were 113 housing units at an average density of 2.9 per square mile (1.1/km2). The racial makeup of the unorganized territory was 97.66% White, 0.47% Black or African American, 1.40% Native American, and 0.47% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.40% of the population.
There were 82 households, out of which 35.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 62.2% were married couples living together, 4.9% had a female householder with no husband present, and 24.4% were non-families. 18.3% of all households were made up of individuals, and 4.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.61 and the average family size was 2.95.
