Salter Springs, previously "Salter's Springs", is a small town situated west of Riverton and south of Woolshed Flat.
It was named for William Salter, who arrived in South Australia on Caroline in 1839, and had a sheep station in the area. The town was surveyed in 1858. The school opened in 1867 and closed in 1956. [2]

Karratha is a city in the Pilbara region of Western Australia, adjoining the port of Dampier. It was established in 1968 to accommodate the processing and exportation workforce of the Hamersley Iron mining company and, in the 1980s, the petroleum and liquefied natural gas operations of the North West Shelf Venture. As of the 2021 census, Karratha had an urban population of 17,013. The city's name comes from the cattle station of the same name, which derives from a word in a local Aboriginal language meaning "good country" or "soft earth". The city is the seat of government of the City of Karratha, a local government area covering the surrounding region.

Kingoonya, originally spelt Kingoonyah, pronounced, was a small settlement, or township, now almost totally abandoned, in the central outback of the Australian state of South Australia. It was established in 1916 as a railway settlement on the Trans-Australian Railway, mainly to provide refuelling for steam trains and track maintenance services; it also served about 200 families living on sheep grazing properties in the region.
