The Taiwanese mole shrew (Anourosorex yamashinai) is one of four species of red-toothed shrews in the genus Anourosorex. [3] It is endemic to Taiwan. [1]
The black and rufous elephant shrew, the black and rufous sengi, or the Zanj elephant shrew is one of the 17 species of elephant shrew found only in Africa. It is native to the lowland montane and dense forests of Kenya and Tanzania. Like other members of the genus Rhynchocyon, it is a relatively large species, with adults averaging about 28 cm (11 in) in length and 450–700 g (16–25 oz) in weight.
The shrew gymnure, or shrew hedgehog, is a species of mammal in the family Erinaceidae and is the only extant species in the genus Neotetracus. It is found in China, Myanmar, and Vietnam.
The Chinese mole shrew is one of four species of Asian mole shrew in the genus Anourosorex.
Horsfield's shrew is a species of mammal in the family Soricidae found in Cambodia, China, India, Japan, Laos, Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam.
The elegant water shrew is a species of mammal in the subfamily Soricinae of the family Soricidae. It is the only species within the genus Nectogale. It lives in Sikkim and China.
The Himalayan shrew is a species of shrew in the subfamily Soricinae and tribe Nectogalini. It is found in Bhutan, China, India, Myanmar, and Nepal, and is the only extant species in the genus Soriculus.
The Indochinese short-tailed shrew is a species of mammal of the family Soricidae found in China and Vietnam. The species is a semifossorial red-toothed shrew with a stout body and short, slender tail. Blarinella is distinguished from all other Southeast Asian shrew genera by their long claws, intensive colored red-tipped teeth, and five upper unicuspids. Although this species is classified under Blarinella, recent Cytochrome b analysis suggests this species should be classified under a new genus.
The Assam mole shrew is a species of red-toothed shrew endemic to northeast India.
The giant mole shrew is a species of red-toothed shrew native to the southeastern slopes of the Himalaya of Bhutan and India.
Asian mole shrews (Anourosorex) are a genus of shrews that resemble moles, from China, Taiwan, India, and Indochina. They are the only known genus of the Anourosoricini tribe of red-toothed shrews. The four known species are:
The Taiwanese brown-toothed shrew is a species of shrew in the tribe Nectogalini. It is found only in Taiwan. It prefers dense ground cover in forests and subalpine shrublands in high mountains of central Taiwan.
The Indochinese shrew is a species of white-toothed shrew native to Southeast Asia. It was first identified in 1922 by Herbert C. Robinson and C. Boden Kloss. The species is often taxonomized as a subspecies Horsfield's shrew, but bears a different range, occurring in Myanmar, Vietnam, and the Yunnan province of China.
