Truth Channel (formerly known as Ang Dating Daan Television or ADDTV) is a Philippine religious television network. It is the flagship television network of the Members Church of God International (MCGI), together with UNTV News and Rescue, the network's carrier on free-to-air digital terrestrial television (DTT). It broadcasts 24 hours a day on Ultra High Frequency (UHF) Channel 38 (617.143 MHz) in Metro and Mega Manila, Rizal, Bulacan, Pampanga, Laguna, Cavite and some parts of Tarlac.

Its studios in the Philippines are located at the UNTV Building, 907 Brgy. Philam, EDSA Quezon City and at the ADD Convention Center, Brgy. Sampaloc, MacArthur Highway Apalit, Pampanga. It also has a broadcast facility in South America, a garage transformed into a makeshift studio in Florianópolis, Santa Catarina, Brazil, shared with MCGI's own international TV channels TV Verdade, TV La Verdad and The Truth Channel. Its digital transmitter is located at Emerald Hills, Sumulong Highway in Antipolo, Rizal. The 16-storey UNTV Broadcast Center along EDSA Philam is currently under construction to serve as its new headquarters by 2018, and it operates 24-hours a day, with the exception of Mondays, where the channel is offline from midnight to 4 am.

Truth Channel is known for its broadcast of Itanong mo kay Soriano , a talk show in Bible Exposition format popularized by Ang Dating Daan (ADD), the longest-running religious program in the Philippines, hosted by international radio and television evangelist Bro. Eli Soriano, together with broadcast journalist UNTV-BMPI CEO, Kuya Daniel Razon.

The segment has spontaneous question and answer format where live audience ask questions to the host. The religious program airs in four languages namely Filipino, English, Portuguese and Spanish with English subtitles.

Digitalization

On September 3, 2017, Truth Channel formally ceased its test broadcast which began in the last quarter of 2014 as Ang Dating Daan Television (ADDTV) and officially launched its broadcast on digital terrestrial television, using Japan's Integrated Service Digital Broadcasting-Terrestrial (ISDB-T), the sole digital television (DTV) standard in the Philippines for its transition from analog to digital broadcast. [2] on UHF Channel 38 as its frequency, together with the flagship station UNTV.

On the same date, an exclusive ceremonial switch-on led by then-MCGI Assistant Overall Servant Brother Daniel Razon was held at the MCGI Headquarters in Apalit, Pampanga during the "Thanksgiving of God's People" (Tagalog: Pasalamat ng Buong Bayan ng Dios) international gathering of the Members Church of God International.

Truth Channel revamped its programming line-up and introduced a new station identification (ID) and on-screen graphics to reflect major changes. It also launched its slogan "Truth Above All" where it emphasize "Truth" as the TV channel's core value based on Bible verse 1 Timothy 2:3–4.

History

During UNTV's 9th anniversary celebration in 2013, Kuya Daniel Razon announced the network's ongoing transition from analog to digital broadcast. The activity includes upgrading of technical equipment and studio facilities. [3]

After a year, UNTV began its test broadcast in Mega Manila using its new digital transmitter in Antipolo. [4] On October 2, 2014, UNTV began its simulcast test broadcast on UHF channel 38 (617.143 MHz) along with its analog broadcast on UHF channel 37. It has two (2) standard definition (SD) channels and one 1seg or “oneseg” channel. 1seg is the common name of DTV service specifically for mobile phone devices. UNTV multi-channel line-up also included one high definition (HD) channel called “ADDTV” or “Ang Dating Daan Television” showing purely religious programs and songs of praises. Its digital broadcast can be received in Metro Manila and nearby provinces like Bulacan, Pampanga, Cavite and Rizal, using ISDB-T set top boxes including LED TV sets and mobile devices with built-in ISDB-T tuners. [5] In a DTV signal test conducted by Philippine mobile phone brand Starmobile last April 2015, UNTV was present in eight out of 14 locations in Metro Manila with decent signal strength of three up to the maximum of four signal bars. [6]

DWAO-TV Ultra High Frequency (UHF) Channel 37 is the flagship news and public service television station of the Filipino-based company Progressive Broadcasting Corporation (PBC), owned by Alfredo "Atom" Henares. It operates as UNTV News and Rescue/Public Service. It is operated and maintained by the Breakthrough and Milestones Productions International, Inc. (BMPI), headed by veteran broadcaster Daniel Razon. DWAO-TV is one of very few NTSC-System M stations in the world that broadcast on channel 37. Its studios are located at the La Verdad Christian College - Caloocan Building, 351 EDSA, Brgy. Bagong Barrio West, Caloocan. Its transmitter is located at Emerald Hills, Sumulong Highway, Antipolo.

Daniel Soriano Razon is a Filipino television and radio host. He is currently the Overall Servant of the Members Church of God International, succeeding Eli Soriano after the latter's death on February 11, 2021.

Since 1980, there have been conflicts between Philippine-based Christian religious organizations Iglesia ni Cristo and the Members Church of God International (MCGI), when MCGI Overall Servant Eliseo Soriano started his radio program Ang Dating Daan (ADD). Through his program, he discussed biblical issues and "exposed" what he believes to be wrong doctrines of other religious groups, including those of INC. In 2001, after 20 years of reticence, the INC launched its own program, Ang Tamang Daan, as a direct response for the first time to Ang Dating Daan, featuring video footages and recordings of ADD hosts as issues were tackled. Over time, the animosity between the two groups has intensified and the relationship has been severely strained.

ADD Convention Center

The Members Church of God International (MCGI) Convention Center also known as Pasalamatán and ADD Convention Center in Tagalog is an open-type, multi-purpose convention center owned by the Members Church of God International (MCGI), a Philippine-based Christian religious organization. It is located inside the 58-hectare ADD Compound along MacArthur Highway in Brgy. Sampaloc, Apalit, Pampanga, Philippines. MCGI is also known in the Philippines as Ang Dating Daan or "ADD", the title of its flagship radio and television program.

Itanong mo kay Soriano, Biblia ang Sasagot! also known as Ang Dating Daan:Bible Exposition is a religious radio and television program in the Philippines produced by the Members Church of God International and hosted by Bro. Eli Soriano. Unlike its sister program, Ang Dating Daan: Bible Study and Mass Indoctrination, the program features a question and answer format in which any visitor in the show can ask Soriano about biblical teachings. In the Philippines, the broadcast of this program takes place right after Ang Dating Daan and it became a separate show in 1993. In the other countries, however, this show is part of the TV program O Caminho Antigo which is also hosted by Soriano. He regularly conducts "Bible Expositions" in specific venues where the people can ask him personally on biblical issues, the Exposition is then recorded and broadcast as this show.

UNTV Broadcast Center Skyscraper in the Philippines

The UNTV Broadcast Center is a mixed-use skyscraper and broadcast facility, currently under construction, located along Epifanio delos Santos Avenue in Barangay Philam, Quezon City. It will serve as the new headquarters of UNTV-37, also known as UNTV News and Rescue/ Public Service, a major UHF television channel. The UNTV Transmitter is a 328 ft (100.0 m) communication tower owned by Breakthrough and Milestones Productions International, Inc. located at Emerald Hills, Sumulong Highway, Antipolo, Rizal, Republic of the Philippines. It serves as the new transmitter facility for flagship stations DWAO-TV and DWNU, with broadcast licenses owned by the stations founder Progressive Broadcasting Corporation.
