Vaniyambadi railway station (station code: VN) is an NSG–5 category Indian railway station in Chennai railway division of Southern Railway zone. [1] It is a railway station in the town of Vaniyambadi, Tamil Nadu, India.

It has three platforms. The second platform is used for trains toward Katpadi Junction, Arakkonam Junction, and Chennai Central railway station. The third platform is used for trains toward Jolarpettai Junction.
On February 12, 1981, three trains -- Trivandrum Mail, Yercaud Express and a goods train were involved in a crash that left 20 dead and at least 50 injured. According to news reports, the couplings of a goods train had snapped and the loose wagons slipped onto a second line. The Trivandrum Mail (No 20 Madras Mail) crashed into the wagons and derailed. Vaniyambadi is a town in the Tirupathur district of Tamil Nadu and the headquarter for the Vaniyambadi Revenue district comprising Vaniyambadi and Ambur. It is located about 200 km from Chennai and 178 kilometer from Bengaluru. The Vaniyambadi Municipality was formed by the G.O. MS. No. 421 Local & Municipality Dept. in April 1886. In 1996 this Municipality was upgraded to Grade II Municipality by G.O. MS. NO. 118 Rural Development Local Administration Dept. dated 01.05.1996. In 1998 this Municipality was upgraded to 1st Grade.
The 12675 / 12676 Kovai Express is a daily superfast express train on Indian Railways, running between Puratchi Thalaivar Dr. M.G. Ramachandran Central Railway Station and Coimbatore Junction. The train made its inaugural run on 14 April 1977 and was one of the fastest Express trains in India, with an average speed of 65 km/h including stops. It is also one of the most prestigious trains of Southern Railway.
