As of the 2020 census, there were 3,950 people living in the city. The racial makeup of the city was 48.7% White, 27.7% African American, 0.8% Native American, 2.0% Asian, 10.8% from other races, and 9.8% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 18.4% of the population. [10]
As of the census [11] of 2010, there were 4,063 people, 1,603 households, and 1,019 families living in the city. The population density was 5,276.6 inhabitants per square mile (2,037.3/km2). There were 1,731 housing units at an average density of 2,248.1 per square mile (868.0/km2). The racial makeup of the city was 68.5% White, 20.8% African American, 0.3% Native American, 1.5% Asian, 5.8% from other races, and 3.2% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 10.6% of the population.
There were 1,603 households, of which 33.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 35.5% were married couples living together, 21.3% had a female householder with no husband present, 6.8% had a male householder with no wife present, and 36.4% were non-families. 28.8% of all households were made up of individuals, and 9.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.53 and the average family size was 3.12.
The median age in the city was 34.6 years. 25.2% of residents were under the age of 18; 9.2% were between the ages of 18 and 24; 28% were from 25 to 44; 25.6% were from 45 to 64; and 11.8% were 65 years of age or older. The gender makeup of the city was 48.2% male and 51.8% female.
