History

In 1998, Beshkempir , by Aktan Abdykalykov, won the Best Film Grand Prix at the 1st Eurasia International Film Festival, in Almaty, Kazakhstan. In 2005, at the 2nd Eurasia IFF, Saratan , by Ernest Abdyzhapparov, won the Special Jury Prize. In 2008, at the 5th Eurasia IFF, Unknown Route , by Temir Birnazarov, won the Special Feature Film Jury Award; Bridge, by Tina Ibragimov, and Debt, by Temir Birnazarov, won the Special Short Film Jury Award; Bolotbek Zhamshiev won the An Outstanding Contribution to World Cinema Art development award. Transilvania International Film Festival

The Transilvania International Film Festival is the first international feature film festival in Romania, which is held annually in the historic capital of Transylvania, Cluj-Napoca. Founded in 2002 by the Romanian Film Promotion, TIFF has grown rapidly to become the most important film-related event in Romania. It is a member of the Alliance of Central and Eastern European Film Festivals (CentEast) and it is supported by the Creative Europe – MEDIA Programme. In February 2011, TIFF has been accredited by the FIAPF as a "competitive festival specialised on first and second feature films". The Asia Pacific Screen Awards (APSA) is an international cultural initiative of the Brisbane City Council, Australia, to honour and promote the films, actors, directors, and cultures of the Asia-Pacific region to a global audience and to realise the objectives of UNESCO to promote and preserve the respective cultures through the influential medium of film.

Cinema of Kazakhstan

Cinema of Kazakhstan refers to the film industry based in Kazakhstan. Cinema in Kazakhstan can be traced back to the early 20th century. Today, Kazakhstan produces approximately fifteen full-length films each year.

The Findling Award or short Findling was a German film award donated by the umbrella organization of cultural cinemas and film clubs Verband für Filmkommunikation. It was founded in 1982 in GDR and was awarded on several film festivals. Far more than hundred filmmakers received this award. The prize itself is a stone on a pedestal with a metal plate designed by sculptor Peter Lewandowsky. Part of the prize's endowment was a tour of the winning film with its director and a critic, often with Sven Eggers, to cultural cinemas, art houses and film clubs. The award was named after a glacial erratic, but plays with the word as it also means "foundling". Sometimes, though wrong, you read Findling Prize.

Ak Ilbirs, National Film Awards in the Kyrgyz Republic, was established to recognize the best achievements in the cinema in the country and to stimulate the artistic growth of national cinema in all areas of filmmaking.

K.D. Satyam

K.D. Satyam is an Indian film writer and film director. He wrote Gattu, a film that became a part of the list of India's Academy Awards nominations in 2012. He has also written and directed Bollywood Diaries. The film was released on 26 February 2016.

Sanal Kumar Sasidharan Indian poet, lawyer, and filmmaker

Sanal Kumar Sasidharan is an Indian poet, lawyer, and filmmaker. He belongs to a league of new-age indie filmmakers from Kerala who are creating waves on the festival circuit with films made on shoestring budgets.

67th Berlin International Film Festival Film festival

The 67th annual Berlin International Film Festival was held from 9 to 18 February 2017 with Dutch filmmaker Paul Verhoeven as President of the Jury. Django, directed by Etienne Comar, opened the festival. The Golden Bear was awarded to the Hungarian film On Body and Soul directed by Ildikó Enyedi, which also served as closing film of the festival.

Bennett Rathnayake, is a filmmaker in Sri Lankan cinema and a television director. He has produced several critically acclaimed award-winning films such as Aswesuma, Sulanga and Ira Handa Yata. He is also the former Chairman of the Sri Lanka Film Directors Association.
