The City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council elections were held on Thursday, 6 May 1999, with one third of the council up for election. Since the previous election there had been a by-election resulting in Labour successfully defending their seat in Little Horton. Labour retained control of the council. [1] [2]

City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council Local government body in England

City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council is the local authority of the City of Bradford in West Yorkshire, England. It is a metropolitan district council, one of five in West Yorkshire and one of 36 in the metropolitan counties of England, and provides the majority of local government services in Bradford. Since 1 April 2014 it has been a constituent council of the West Yorkshire Combined Authority.

The Labour Party is a centre-left political party in the United Kingdom which has been described as an alliance of social democrats, democratic socialists and trade unionists. The party's platform emphasises greater state intervention, social justice and strengthening workers' rights.

Little Horton electoral ward of Bradford City Council

Little Horton is a ward in the City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council in the county of West Yorkshire, England, named after the de Horton family, who were once Lords of the Manor. The population at the 2011 Census was 21,547.

Labour were still being led by the former prime minister James Callaghan, who resigned later in the year to be succeeded by Michael Foot.
