History

In October 2011, I heard weekly programs for more than one month commemorating comedy on channel VH1 featuring a "show" for the Comedy Central channel's broadcast. The program was titled Comedy Central Apresenta, and comedian Danilo Gentili presented the stand-up shows with Brazilian comedians. [1] The program was reprised on VH1 periodically and from the launch of Comedy Central it passed to a degree that it had more than a season of eight months, but it has not yet been confirmed that the comedian will continue to host the program. [2]

On 11 November of the same year, the site of the channel was launched, as an exclusive The Roast of Charlie Sheen. The launch of the site of the actor Charlie Sheen and the comedian Danilo Gentili covers Twitter on the channel's broadcast in Brazil. [3]

Despite its launch scheduled for 1 January 2012, the channel released on social networks its broadcast was added on 1 February 2012. [4] [5]

Initially, the first pay TV provider to inform customers was Claro TV, where the channel would be after the VH1 MegaHits channel, with number 92, on 7 February 2012, days after its launch. Sky also announced to its clients by email that it would replace VH1 MegaHits with Comedy Central. The channel was launched by the company on the first day of fever, the day of its launch and with an open signal of 12 days. [6] Both companies will disclose their channels only through the SD signal. It was not confirmed at the time of the extinction of the VH1 MegaHits channel in Brazil, that is, the channel would remain available to other pay TV providers that may not be available in its line-up. Such a channel would be discontinued a few years later in favor of the expansion of MTV Live in Brazil. [7]

On 7 October 2025, Paramount announced that Comedy Central will close in Brazil along with all its sister channels on 31 December 2025, due to high operational costs in the respective country, declining rating of pay TV in Brazil and the Brazilian pay TV crisis; same reasons why its rival network Star Channel Brazil and its sister channels closed on 1 March 2025 in the respective country. The program The Daily Show featuring interviewer Jon Stewart began to be shown with legends from its launch. [9] The channel also shows comedy-oriented series and broadcasts the South Park series, from VH1 Brazil, passing through various schedules, and has been broadcast in the early mornings since 2019. [10]

The channel also was produced its own productions from the American and Latin American version, such as Comedy Central Stund-Up, Comedy Central Apresenta, República do Stund-Up, A Culpa é do Cabral (this being one of the channel's two biggest successes and chef-car of the channel, closed in the 13th season), A Culpa é da Carlota (canceled in the 3rd season due to public review and specialized criticism) and others. [11] [12] [13] Had the partnership with the producer Porta dos Fundos for broadcast some of the group's projects and the webseries Homens? since 2019. [14]
