The East Boston Naval Annex, was United States Navy shipyard annex located in East Boston. It was the annex of the Boston Navy Yard. [1]

United States Navy Naval warfare branch of the United States Armed Forces

The United States Navy (USN) is the naval warfare service branch of the United States Armed Forces and one of the seven uniformed services of the United States. It is the largest and most capable navy in the world and it has been estimated that in terms of tonnage of its active battle fleet alone, it is larger than the next 13 navies combined, which includes 11 U.S. allies or partner nations. It has the highest combined battle fleet tonnage and the world's largest aircraft carrier fleet, with eleven in service, and two new carriers under construction. With 336,978 personnel on active duty and 101,583 in the Ready Reserve, the U.S. Navy is the third largest of the U.S. military service branches in terms of personnel. It has 290 deployable combat vessels and more than 3,700 operational aircraft as of June 2019, making it the third-largest air force in the world, after the United States Air Force and the United States Army.

Boston Navy Yard United States national historic site

The Boston Navy Yard, originally called the Charlestown Navy Yard and later Boston Naval Shipyard, was one of the oldest shipbuilding facilities in the United States Navy. It was established in 1801 as part of the recent establishment of the new U.S. Department of the Navy in 1798. After 175 years of military service, it was decommissioned as a naval installation on 1 July 1974.

Congress Street Grounds

Congress Street Grounds is a former baseball ground located in Boston, Massachusetts. The ballpark, as the name implies, was along Congress Street, near the intersection of Thompson Place, and not far from the Fort Point Channel on South Boston Flats, a newly filled in piece of land on Boston Harbor. The ground was home to the Boston Reds, that played in the Players' League in 1890 and the American Association in 1891.

Fort Point Channel

Fort Point Channel is a maritime channel separating South Boston from downtown Boston, Massachusetts, feeding into Boston Harbor. The south part of it has been gradually filled in for use by the South Bay rail yard and several highways. At its south end, the channel once widened into South Bay, from which the Roxbury Canal continued southwest where the Massachusetts Avenue Connector is now. The Boston Tea Party occurred at its northern end. The channel is surrounded by the Fort Point neighborhood, which is also named after the same colonial-era fort.

Pontypool Park is a 150-acre (0.61 km2) park containing predominantly mature trees with some open meadowland, and located in Pontypool in south Wales. The park was formerly the grounds of Pontypool House and was laid out in the closing years of the 17th century for Major John Hanbury, the local ironmaster, who is closely associated with Japanware. The grounds were purchased by the local authority in 1920, while the estate house was leased, and later sold, to the Sisters of the Holy Ghost to become St. Alban's RC High School.

North Billerica is an unincorporated village of the town of Billerica, Massachusetts, United States, one of the nine sections (hamlets) that make up the Town of Billerica. It is the home to Faulkner and Talbot mills and the North Billerica Train Depot. The Middlesex Canal was built through the village in 1783 and the Boston and Lowell Railroad was put through in the 1840s.

Cambridge Crossing, previously known as NorthPoint, is a mixed-use redevelopment of an old railroad yard in the East Cambridge section of Cambridge, Massachusetts. The site's triangular shape was heavily influenced by the rail yard, originally built by the Boston and Maine Railroad, Pan Am Systems, the Charles River and associated dam with the Lechmere Viaduct, the former Lechmere wetlands and Millers River remnant that once divided Cambridge and Charlestown along with the Interstate 93 Northern Expressway viaduct to the northeast.

Leather District United States national historic site

The Leather District is a neighborhood of Boston near South Street, between the Financial District and Chinatown. The Leather District is a tightly defined area bounded by Kneeland Street to the south, Essex Street to the north, Atlantic Avenue to the east and Lincoln Street to the west. It is so named due to the dominance of the leather industry in the late 19th century.

Arsenal Yards

Arsenal Yards is a planned mixed-use, smart growth development in Watertown, Massachusetts, with an estimated opening date of late 2019. The area is home to the original Arsenal Mall site, which is currently being redeveloped for Arsenal Yards. It will include 250,000 sq ft (23,000 m2) of retail and restaurants, 200,000 sq ft (19,000 m2) of office space, a 150-room Hampton Inn hotel, and 425 residences.

George Lawley & Son

George Lawley & Son was a shipbuilding firm operating in Massachusetts from 1866 to 1945. It began in Scituate, then moved to Boston. After founder George Lawley (1823–1915) retired in 1890, his son, grandson and great-grandson upheld the business, which continued until 1945. Of the hundreds of ships built by the Lawleys, highlights include the yachts Puritan and Mayflower, respective winners of the 1885 and 1886 America's Cup.

South Boston Naval Annex

The South Boston Naval Annex, was a 167-acre (68 ha) United States Navy shipyard annex located in South Boston. It was the annex of the Boston Navy Yard, and was operational from the 1920 to 1974, when it was closed along with the main shipyard. The annex is also home to Dry Dock Number 3, the one of the largest dry docks on the East Coast.

The South Boston Army Base, was a 58-acre United States Army annex located in South Boston. During World War II, it was used as the Boston Port of Embarkation. It was operational from 1920 to 1974.

Raymond L. Flynn Marine Park

Raymond L. Flynn Marine Park, formerly known as the Boston Marine Industrial Park, is an industrial park which has been created on the Commonwealth Flats in South Boston, Massachusetts, United States. Before its creation, the site was used as the location for the South Boston Naval Annex, the South Boston Army Base, and was used as a general seaport district for many years. Currently, the park is in the process of being redeveloped, and utilizes many of the former military buildings. The Black Falcon Cruise Terminal is also located on the site of the former Army base.

The Charlestown Ropewalk is a former ropewalk facility located in Charlestown, Massachusetts at the former Boston Navy Yard. At over 1,300 feet (400 m) long, it is the only standing ropewalk facility still existent in the United States. It is a pending Boston Landmark.

Boston Naval Yard Fuel Depot Annex

The Boston Naval Yard Fuel Depot Annex, was a United States Navy fuel depot annex located in East Boston, Massachusetts. It was the annex of Boston Navy Yard.

The East Boston Immigration Station was an immigration station in East Boston that was built from 1919 to 1920 and operational from 1920 to 1954. In 1959, it was declared surplus and sold to the highest bidder. As of 2010, it is owned by Massport and leased as a shipyard. It is located directly to the east of the former Bethlehem Atlantic Works.

Iron Horse Park

Iron Horse Park is the name of the former repair facilities of the Boston and Maine Railroad repair facilities in North Billerica, Massachusetts.
