Fuzhounan (Fuzhou South) Railway Station (Chinese :福州南站; pinyin :Fúzhōu Nánzhàn; Foochow Romanized: Hók-ciŭ Nàng-câng) is a metro station and a railway station located in Cangshan District, Fuzhou, Fujian Province, China, along the Wenzhou–Fuzhou railway and Fuzhou–Xiamen railway operated by the CR Nanchang, part of the China Railway Corporation. It is the largest railway station in Fujian. [1]

History

The station began construction on September 2, 2008 [2] and opened on April 26, 2010. [3] The older station building, the Hangzhou-Shenzhen Square Station Building (Chinese :杭深场站房; pinyin :Háng-Shēn Chǎng Zhànfáng), lies over the Fuzhou–Xiamen railway line.

The station has undergone expansion to accommodate the Fuzhou–Xiamen high-speed railway, [4] with the new Yong Square Station Building (甬广场站房; Yǒng Guǎngchǎng Zhànfáng) opening with the new line on September 28, 2023. Currently there are 7 entrances and 8 exits, and six floors in total, including those for the metro platforms below ground, and the train platforms at on the highest level. [5]

Fuzhounan railway station (Chinese :福州南站) is a railway station in Cangshan District, Fuzhou, Fujian, China, and is served by the Wenzhou–Fuzhou Railway, the Fuzhou–Xiamen railway, the Hangzhou–Fuzhou–Shenzhen railway and the local Fuzhou-Pingtan railway. In September 2023, the Fuzhou–Xiamen high-speed railway as part of the coastal corridor to improve the flow between the main urban areas of coastal Fujian. [5]

Fuzhou South Railway Station (Chinese :福州火车南站站; pinyin :Fúzhōu Huǒchē Nánzhàn zhàn; Fuzhounese: [huʔ˨˩t͡siu˥˥huoi˨˩ʒia˥˥nɑŋ˨˩ʒiɑŋ˨˦˨] ) is a metro station of Line 1 of the Fuzhou Metro. It is located on Lulei Road at the underground of CR railway station in Cangshan District, Fuzhou, Fujian, China. [6] This station started operation on May 18, 2016. [7]

The line has a total length of 274.9 kilometres (170.8 mi) and forms part of China's Hangzhou–Fuzhou–Shenzhen passenger-dedicated railway. Construction began in 2005, and the line entered into operation on April 26, 2010.

The Hangzhou–Fuzhou–Shenzhen railway is the dual-track, electrified, high-speed rail lines (HSR) in service along the southeastern coast of China, linking the Yangtze River Delta on the East China Sea and Pearl River Delta on the South China Sea. It is one of the eight arterial high-speed rail corridors of the national 4+4 high-speed rail grid. The southeast coast is the only region of high-speed rail construction where no previous conventional railroads existed. Hence, the high-speed rail lines built on the southeast coast will, for the most part, carry both passenger and freight traffic, and will not be passenger-dedicated lines that comprise most of the other HSR corridors in China.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Xiangtang–Putian railway</span> Railway line in China

Xiangtang–Putian railway or Xiangpu railway, is a Class I higher-speed railway in eastern China linking Nanchang and Fúzhou (福州), the provincial capitals, respectively, of Jiangxi and Fujian Province. The line is named after Xiangtang, a township south of Nanchang, which was originally slated to serve as a terminus, and Putian, on the coast of Fujian, at which the southern branch of the Xiangpu railway terminates. The line actually begins at the Lehua East Station, a rail junction for the Beijing–Kowloon and Nanchang–Jiujiang intercity railways north of Nanchang. The line heads south to Nanchang West Railway Station and bypasses Xiangtang on its way to Fǔzhou (抚州). After entering Fujian, the line forks at Yongtai with the northern fork heading to Fúzhou (福州) and the southern fork going to Putian. The Nanchang to Yongtai section of the line plus the northern fork to Fuzhou is officially named the Nanchang–Fuzhou or Changfu railway. The southern fork is officially named the Yongtai–Putian or Yongpu railway.

The opening of a further section from Ancient Luozhou Town to Fuzhou South railway station, which will extend the line's length to 27.7 km (17.2 mi), was delayed due to the delay of the reconstruction of the train station for the Fuzhou–Xiamen high-speed railway, which is expected to re-open in the second half of 2023. The Coastal corridor is a high-speed rail corridor running along the eastern coast of China, stretching from Dalian in the north to Fangchenggang in the south and passing through the cities of Shenyang, Qinhuangdao, Tianjin, Dongying, Weifang, Qingdao, Lianyungang, Yancheng, Nantong, Shanghai, Ningbo. Fuzhou, Xiamen, Shenzhen, and Zhanjiang. The Weifang–Qingdao stretch splits into two, one directly connecting Weifang to Qingdao, the other connecting Weifang to Qingdao through Yantai. Announced in 2016 as part of the national "eight vertical and eight horizontal" high-speed railway network as an expanded Hangzhou–Fuzhou–Shenzhen passenger railway from the "four vertical and four horizontal" plan. The line will comprise a mixture of high-speed railway lines, upgraded conventional rail lines and intercity railways.
