Xiamen Metro,officially branded as AMTR [1] [2] (Amoy Transit Rail, [3] formerly Across Mass Transit Railway [4] ),is a rapid transit system serving Xiamen,Fujian,China. Line 1 began operation on 31 December 2017. [5] Line 2 began operation on 25 December 2019. [6] Line 3 began operation on 25 June 2021.
Planning for a metro system began in the early 2000s in the meantime the mostly elevated Xiamen BRT opened in 2008. The initial phase of construction of the metro system was compiled as the Xiamen Urban Rail Transit Construction Plan (2011–2020) on 24 December 2010 and was approved by the National Development and Reform Commission on 11 May 2012. [7] [8] The construction started on 13 November 2013. [9] Xiamen Urban Rail Transit Group was founded for the purpose of construction and operation. On 8 October 2016,the National Development and Reform Commission approved phase II of the Xiamen Urban Rail Transit Construction Plan (2016–2022).
The approved phase I of system development includes three lines (1,2,3) with 62 stations,75.3 kilometres (46.8 mi) in length. The construction cost is projected to be 50.37 billion yuan. [10] [11]
The approved phase II of system development includes four lines (2 Phase II,3 Phase II,4,6) with 67 stations,152.2 kilometres (94.6 mi) in length. The construction cost is projected to be 100.092 billion yuan. [12] [13]
The approved phase II of system adjustment includes Lines 3 Phase III,which will be extended further south by 4 stations,7.35 kilometres (4.57 mi) in length. The construction cost is projected to be 5.769 billion yuan. [14]
In addition,an intercity railway system consisting of two lines (Quanzhou–Xiamen–Zhangzhou and Zhangzhou–Gangwei–Xiamen) and 263 kilometres (163 mi) in length was also approved. [15] [16]

Line 1, with 24 stations, 30.3 kilometres (18.8 mi) length, 50 min duration of trip and 20.39 billion yuan cost of construction, was opened on 31 December 2017. [5] The line goes from south to north. The depot is situated at the northern end and is Xiamen Metro's principal depot. The line goes through Xiamen North railway station and connects the island (with 9 stations) and mainland (with 14 stations) parts of the city through a dam (with 1 station). Route: Lundu Ferry Terminal, Old Town, Jimei New Town, Xiamen North Railway Station. Line 1's color is orange. Line 1 uses six car CRRC Tangshan rolling stock.
Line 2 is 41.64 kilometres (25.87 mi) [17] in length with 32 stations. [20] [21] It was opened on 25 December 2019. [6] It runs from east to west through Xiamen Island and then through Haicang channel to the mainland.
Line 3 will be 45.01 kilometres (27.97 mi) in length with 31 stations, and 26.5 kilometres (16.5 mi) [18] [19] in length with 16 stations was opened on 25 June 2021. It serves the Xiamen Island from southwest to northeast then cross to the mainland and head towards Xiamen's new Xiang'an Airport. [22]
Line 4 will be 69.6 kilometres (43.2 mi) in length with 18 stations and is scheduled to be complete by 2020. [23] [24] Unlike other lines, which are radial lines that connect Xiamen island to the mainland, this line is a tangential express line running strictly on the mainland around Xiamen Island. It will connect Xiamen's new Xiang'an Airport to Xiamen North railway station.
Line 6 will be 46.17 kilometres (28.69 mi) in length with 27 stations and is scheduled to be complete by 2022. Like Line 4, it is a tangential line running strictly on the mainland north of Xiamen Island. [25]
The total length of Line 9 is 44.2 kilometers, and runs completely underground. There are 24 stations, including 10 transfer stations, with an average station spacing of 1.91 kilometers. [26] [27] [28]
Xiamen city government plans to build an urban-suburban metro network comprising twelve lines, 493 kilometres (306 mi) in length, with 188 stations. [29] Lines 3 and Line 6 will be extended further south by 4 stations, 7.8 kilometres (4.8 mi) length and further north by 7 stations, 9.99 kilometres (6.21 mi) length. Line 10 with 31 stations and 40.4 kilometres (25.1 mi) length will be reconstructed mainly from the BRT line. Line 5 will have 27 stations and 41.6 kilometres (25.8 mi) length. Line 5 counts 29 stations and 41.28 kilometres (25.65 mi) length. Like Line 1, Line 4 and Line 10 will intersect at the new main Xiamen North railway station in Jimei District. [30] In addition, there are plans to connect the Xiamen Metro with neighboring cities of Zhangzhou and Quanzhou using a new express subway Line R1. [31] [32] The plans were approved in 2015 by the NDRC [33]
Changchun Rail Transit, is the rapid transit and light rail system in the city of Changchun, Jilin Province, China. Its first line, Line 3, is the first true light rail line in Mainland China. The system consists of three light rail lines and two rapid transit lines.
Dongguan Rail Transit or Dongguan Metro is the rapid transit system of the city of Dongguan in Guangdong Province of China. It is operated by the state-owned Dongguan Rail Transit Corporation, Limited. The construction of the first section of Line 2 began on 26 March 2010, opening on 27 May 2016. Current plans call for some lines of the Dongguan Rail Transit to connect with the neighbouring Shenzhen Metro and Guangzhou Metro.
Line 1 of the Dongguan Rail Transit,, is a rapid transit line under construction in Dongguan, Guangdong. Phase 1 of Line 1 connects Wanghong station in the North with Huangjiang Center station in the south.
Line 3 of the Dongguan Rail Transit is a planned rapid transit line in Dongguan, Guangdong Province, China. It has a planned 24 stations from Dongguan East railway station in the Northeast of Dongguan, to Jiaoyiwan in the south of Dongguan. The construction date for Line 3 has not yet been published.
Daxing Airport Express of the Beijing Subway is an airport rail link from Caoqiao to the Beijing Daxing International Airport. It is colored blue on subway maps. The line opened on September 26, 2019.
The Xuzhou Metro is a rapid transit system in Xuzhou, Jiangsu Province, China. Construction began in February 2014, and Line 1 was opened on September 28, 2019, Line 2 was opened on November 28, 2020, and Line 3 was opened on June 28, 2021.

Shuqian Lu station is a planned station of Line 10 of Guangzhou Metro. It is planned to be built underground on the north side of Miaoqianzhi Street in Yuexiu District, near Dongshankou station. Due to the lack of transparency of the planning process and the site selection of Dongshan, the historical core area of Guangzhou, this site has caused controversy and attracted much attention.
Line 8 of the Chengdu Metro is a line on the metro network in Chengdu, Sichuan, China. The first phase opened on 18 December 2020.
Line 13 of the Dalian Metro is a rapid transit line running mainly in northern Dalian. Phase 1 of Line 13 was opened on the 28 December 2021. The line is 43.152 km (26.813 mi) long with 12 stations.
Line 11 of Foshan Metro (FMetro) (Chinese: 佛山地铁11号线; pinyin: Fóshān Dìtiě Shíyīhàoxiàn) is a line under planning in Foshan. The first phase of the line will run in a north–south direction, connecting Hedongdong in Liwan District in Guangzhou with Rongqi Ferry in Shunde District, with 18 stations and 36.3 km (22.6 mi) kilometers of track.

Pingshanwei station is an interchange station for Line 14 and Line 16 of the Shenzhen Metro. It is located in Pingshan District. Line 14 platforms is opened on 28 October 2022 and Line 16 platforms opened on 28 December 2022.
