Issues is the fourth studio album by American nu metal band Korn. It was released on November 16,1999,through Immortal Records. The album was promoted throughout 2000 by the band's highly successful Sick and Twisted Tour.
During one of the band's recording sessions,journalist Chris Connelly asked about how the recording was coming along,to which drummer David Silveria responded that it "Sounds like the music is a little more simplified and heavier. Kind of heavier grooves,more than the last couple. So kind of more similar to the beginning,except Jon is a much better singer now,so it's all coming together." [4]
In October 1999,Korn posted "Falling Away from Me" on their website as a free MP3 download,although it was against the advice of its attorneys. A statement on the band's site relates:"We're so psyched about [the new album] that we wanted to give all you guys,the true Korn fans —a gift from us." Also at this time,the band attempted to start an online chain email,by posting the letter online and asking fans to email the letter to 10 other people and to then sign the "I Downloaded the Korn Single for Free" guestbook on the band's site. For each person who signed,Korn donated 25 cents to the charities Childhelp USA and Children of the Night. It raised over $250,000. [5]
The album featured four different covers each designed by Korn fans as part of an MTV contest (the winning cover,submitted in a pizza box, [6] was designed by Alfredo Carlos;another album cover for special limited edition of the album features a cartoonish half-caricature for the band). There was also a fifth cover selected for the limited tour edition of the album. [7]
Issues went to number 1 on the Billboard 200 selling 575,000 copies,preventing both Dr. Dre's 2001 (which sold 516,000) and Celine Dion's All the Way... A Decade of Song from going to number 1. [8] To celebrate the release of Issues,Korn performed the entire album in its running order at Harlem's famed Apollo Theater. [9] On December 22,1999,a month after the album's release date,Issues was certified 3×platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). As of 2003 According to Nielsen Soundscan,Issues sold at least 3,200,000 copies in the United States. [10] On Billboard 's year-end chart for the year 2000,Issues was at number 19. [11] As of 2023 Issues has sold an estimated 13 million copies worldwide. [12]
Three songs from Issues were released as singles:"Falling Away from Me","Make Me Bad",and "Somebody Someone". On December 25,1999,"Falling Away from Me" went to number 8 on the Bubbling Under Hot 100 Singles chart. "Falling Away from Me" was on that chart for sixteen weeks. [13] "Falling Away from Me" also went to number 7 on the Mainstream Rock Songs chart [14] and number 7 on the Modern Rock Tracks chart. [15] On April 22,2000,"Make Me Bad" went to number 14 on the Bubbling Under Hot 100 Singles chart. "Make Me Bad" was on that chart for 12 weeks. [16] "Make Me Bad" also went to number 9 on the Mainstream Rock Songs chart [14] and number 7 on the Modern Rock Tracks chart. The album received mixed to positive reviews. According to the band in the booklet that comes with Greatest Hits,Vol. 1 album,they did not want to be part of a popular trend and wanted to do their own thing. The band admits that with Brendan O'Brien working alongside them,they were more focused during recording because he didn't let them just fool around and party,so there was a lot less drinking this time around.
In 2021,it was named one of the 20 best metal albums of 1999 by Metal Hammer magazine. [29]

Nu metal is a subgenre of alternative metal that combines elements of heavy metal music with elements of other music genres such as hip hop, funk, industrial, and grunge. Nu metal rarely features guitar solos or other displays of musical technique, and emphasizes rhythm with instrumentation that is heavily syncopated. Nu metal guitarists typically use seven-string guitars that are down-tuned to produce a heavier sound. Vocal styles are often rhythmic and influenced by hip hop, and include singing, rapping, screaming and sometimes growling. DJs are occasionally featured to provide instrumentation such as sampling, turntable scratching and electronic background music. Nu metal is one of the key genres of the new wave of American heavy metal.
Korn is an American nu metal band from Bakersfield, California, originally formed in 1993 by James "Munky" Shaffer, Reginald "Fieldy" Arvizu and David Silveria, who were members of the band L.A.P.D. Their current lineup features Shaffer (guitar), Arvizu (bass), Brian "Head" Welch (guitar), Jonathan Davis (vocals), and Ray Luzier (drums), the last of whom replaced Silveria in 2007. The band is notable for pioneering and popularizing the nu metal genre.
Korn is the debut studio album by the American nu metal band Korn. It was released on October 11, 1994, through Immortal and Epic Records. Before recording the album, the band was approached by Immortal/Epic Records after a performance in Huntington Beach, California. The band signed to their label because they did not want to "sign away all of their creative freedom". The band would record at Indigo Ranch Studios in Malibu, California, with producer Ross Robinson, who also produced their 1993 demo Neidermayer's Mind. The recording took place from May to June 1994. After the recordings, Korn toured with Biohazard and House of Pain. The North American leg of their tour included The Deftones as their opening act.
Life Is Peachy is the second studio album by American nu metal band Korn. It was released on October 15, 1996, through both Immortal Records and Epic Records. After the release of Korn's 1994 self-titled debut album, the band reunited with Ross Robinson to produce and went back to Indigo Ranch Studios to record. Life Is Peachy features such themes as drugs, social encounters, sex, betrayal, and revenge. The album has fourteen tracks, excluding the hidden track after "Kill You". Martin Riedl photographed its cover art, and its title is credited to Korn's bassist Reginald "Fieldy" Arvizu. Life Is Peachy was Korn's first significant breakthrough, which came from constant touring after the debut album's release and building a fan base, thus fueling great expectations.
Follow the Leader is the third studio album by American nu metal band Korn. It was released on August 18, 1998, through both Immortal and Epic Records. This was their first album not produced by Ross Robinson. Instead, it was produced by Steve Thompson and Toby Wright.
Take a Look in the Mirror is the sixth studio album by American nu metal band Korn. Released on November 21, 2003, through Epic Records and Immortal Records, it is the last Korn studio album to feature their full original lineup, as their original guitarist Brian "Head" Welch left the band in February 2005 until his return in 2013. It is the last album to feature the original lineup as drummer David Silveria also left Korn before the end of 2006 after the release of their next album See You on the Other Side. It was also the last studio album by Korn under the Epic and Immortal labels.
Return of Saturn is the fourth studio album by American rock band No Doubt, released on April 11, 2000, by Trauma Records and Interscope Records. It marked the band's first album as a quartet, following the departure of original keyboardist Eric Stefani in 1994. After touring for two and a half years to promote their breakthrough third studio album, Tragic Kingdom (1995), No Doubt wrote several dozen songs for its follow-up and eventually settled on working with producer Glen Ballard. Creating the album became a tumultuous process lasting two years, during which there was dissension among band members and between the band and its label. The album was completed after the band returned to the studio and recorded what became two of its singles.
Anywhere but Home is the first live album and concert DVD release by American rock band Evanescence. It was released on November 23, 2004, by Wind-up Records. It includes a recording of a concert at Le Zénith in Paris, an hour of behind the scenes footage, three previously-unreleased songs, and all four of the Fallen music videos.
Greatest Hits Vol. 1 is a compilation album released by American nu metal band Korn in October 2004. The album features select tracks from their first six studio albums presented in reverse chronological order. There are two previously unreleased songs on the compilation: a cover of Cameo's "Word Up!" and a compilation of all three parts of Pink Floyd's "Another Brick in the Wall" and "Goodbye Cruel World". These were the final songs recorded with their full original lineup, as guitarist Brian Welch left the band shortly after the album's release in February the following year, until his return in 2013, by which time drummer David Silveria had departed permanently.
Significant Other is the second studio album by American nu metal band Limp Bizkit. It was released on June 22, 1999, through Flip and Interscope Records. It saw the band expand their sound from that of their 1997 debut Three Dollar Bill, Y'all to incorporate further metal and hip hop influences, but with a more melodic and less hardcore punk-influenced sound.
"Freak on a Leash" is a song by the American nu metal band Korn, featured on the group's 1998 studio album, Follow the Leader. After Follow the Leader's release, the song was released as a single on February 25, 1999, and since then, it has been re-released over ten times. The song uses dissonance, distortion, various guitar effects, and a heavy, aggressive style.
See You on the Other Side is the seventh studio album by American nu metal band Korn. It was released on December 6, 2005, by Virgin Records. It is their first album as a quartet after the departure of long-time guitarist Brian "Head" Welch and the last album with original drummer David Silveria before he had departed from the band in December 2006. The album was first certified gold in the United States on January 12, 2006; a subsequent platinum record certification was awarded on March 16, 2006. In the album, Korn experimented with different musical styles and even collaborated with pop music producers The Matrix.

System of a Down is an Armenian-American heavy metal band formed by vocalist Serj Tankian, guitarist Daron Malakian, bassist Shavo Odadjian, and drummer John Dolmayan in the mid-1990s. They have released five studio albums, nineteen singles, and thirteen music videos. By the end of 1997, the group had signed to American Recordings, then distributed as Columbia Records. The following year, they released their eponymous debut album, which peaked at number 124 on the United States' Billboard 200 and number 103 on the United Kingdom's UK Albums Chart; it was later certified double platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) and gold by Canadian Recording Industry Association (CRIA).
