Literacy in India is a key for social-economic progress. The 2011 census, indicated a 2001–2011 literacy growth of 97.2%, which is slower than the growth seen during the previous decade. <span class="mw-page-title-main">2011 census of India</span> 15th Indian census

The 2011 census of India or the 15th Indian census was conducted in two phases, house listing and population enumeration. The House listing phase began on 1 April 2010 and involved the collection of information about all buildings. Information for National Population Register (NPR) was also collected in the first phase, which will be used to issue a 12-digit unique identification number to all registered Indian residents by Unique Identification Authority of India. The second population enumeration phase was conducted between 9 and 28 February 2011. Census has been conducted in India since 1872 and 2011 marks the first time biometric information was collected. According to the provisional reports released on 31 March 2011, the Indian population increased to 1.21 billion with a decadal growth of 17.70%. Adult literacy rate increased to 74.04% with a decadal growth of 9.21%. The motto of the census was Our Census, Our Future.

Phungyar is a small town located south of Kamjong in Kamjong district, Manipur state, India. It is also the name of a sub division of the district. The town is about 50 kilometers from Ukhrul and is partially connected by National Highway 150 that connects Imphal and Kohima via Ukhrul and Jessami. The town is flanked by Khambi in the south, Loushing in the north and alang in the west. Locally, the inhabitants speak common tangkhul language and native village dialect which belongs to the Tibeto-Burman language family.

Sattenapalle mandal is one of the mandals in Palnadu district of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It is under the administration of Sattenapalli revenue division and the headquarters are located at Sattenapalle. The mandal is bounded by Krosuru, Pedakurapadu, Rajupalem, Medikonduru, Muppalla and Phirangipuram.And it is a part of APCRDA also comes under capital region

Digha is a village in Chhatoh block of Rae Bareli district, Uttar Pradesh, India. It is located 7 km from Jais, the nearest town. As of 2011, Digha has a population of 1,536 people, in 288 households. It has one primary school and no healthcare facilities. It belongs to the nyaya panchayat of Paraiya Namaksar.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Bhadokhar</span> Village in Uttar Pradesh, India

Bhadokhar is a village in Rahi block of Rae Bareli district, Uttar Pradesh, India. It is located 9 km from Rae Bareli, the district headquarters. As of 2011, it has a population of 3,312 people, in 649 households. It has 3 primary schools and no medical facilities. The village hosts a weekly haat but not a permanent market. It serves as the headquarters of a nyaya panchayat which also includes 9 other villages.

The rates for the 1981, 1991, 2001 and 2011 Censuses relate to the population aged seven years and above. The literacy rate for 1951 in case of West Bengal relates to Total Population including 0-4 age group. Literacy rate for 1951 in respect of Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Manipur are based on sample population.
  2. India and Manipur figures exclude those of the three sub-divisions viz., Mao Maram, Paomata and Purul of Senapati district of Manipur as census results of 2001 in these three sub-divisions were cancelled due to technical and administrative reasons.
